Unable to send buyer invoice, says tools are a vehicle.
I listed several heavy auto shop tools in the correct tool categories on ebay motors. Due to their weight (some of them are heavy enough to need freight shipping), I said in the listings that I would invoice buyers for the final shipping cost after the listing ends and we figure out how they'll be shipped and I get exact prices. But, I can't send invoices. I'm getting "Sorry, all of your items are vehicles listed on eBay Motors and cannot be invoiced."
Searching these forums shows this has been an issue since at least 2021, with people complaining about being unable to send invoices for anything from equipment to wrenches. I also can't print shipping labels. Why has this not been resolved yet? There's been more than dozen people reporting what seems like an obvious, trivial bug. Will it be resolved any time soon?
From what I can see, my options are to re-list in the wrong category then have the buyer purchase that listing and cancel the original transaction, or have the buyer pay me the shipping costs directly and purchase a label at retail prices. One of these dings my performance, the other is probably against some policy somewhere.

OP3 years agoSold a second item. Same problem. This one I listed with FedEx ground shipping, and I can not send the buyer an invoice with the correct shipping amount. It will need to be shipped in two boxes, will cost more than ebay's estimate, and I need to be able to invoice the buyer... but I can't do anything, with the same error message saying it's a vehicle.

·3 years agoI only see 1 item sold that was on 'ebay motors' and you have it as 'local pickup only (no shipping)'; so you cannot send an invoice.
It needed to be listed as 'freight shipping'

OP3 years agoPretty sure selecting the wrong shipping wouldn't cause a valve seat grinder to become a vehicle... And why would local pickup prevent sending an invoice? Also note the sold items page is suggesting I send the buyer an invoice to remind them to pay, and it's the default action for the item, but clicking the button gives that error.
