Unable to Bid on Auctions Despite Confirming Address and Payment Method, No Nonpayment History
Hi! Has anyone else been having trouble bidding on trading card auctions as of the last 24 hours? I get repeatedly asked to confirm my payment information and address to place a bid, and despite doing so, I am still unable to bid on items. The window just keeps refreshing. I have no history of nonpayment (I always pay for my winning auctions the day of). Any input regarding this would be much appreciated; thanks so much!

·10 months agoi just trial and error and solve the problem. go and change 7-hour auto pay to 1-hour auto pay also turn on use spendable funds.

·10 months agoThis is still unresolved for me, but the message changed. Now I'm receiving this error message instead of a normal-looking confirmation window. I'm really shocked this has continued, because usually eBay is quick to fix anything that's costing them money, and this problem certainly is. I know there are possible workarounds, but I shouldn't have to change my settings in order to simply bid.

·10 months agoSame as me. I have been contacting eBay for 5 days about this issue, and they seem to be unable to do anything except put in tickets. What troubles me more is that I currently have several hundred non-sports cards listed and if people are unable to bid on them, I'm being treated unfairly by eBay.

·10 months agoIt's been going on for days, since at least late Thursday night. No idea whether it's only certain categories, but I know it isn't an issue if Sellers turn off the requirement to provide a payment method before Buyers can submit bids.
It figures. THE truly most annoying change to Ebay in, well, ever, is now causing a glitch that makes it impossible for people to place bids. PEOPLE CAN'T PLACE BIDS ON EBAY. That's truly rich, and absolutely everything I have come to expect from this marketplace, particularly the part where they can't figure out how to fix it for days at a time.

·10 months agoI am having the same problem and have also an open thread.
Saying you will use spendable funds does allow you to place a bid. However, I also do not want to use spendable funds when purchasing.
I plan to contact eBay again tomorrow with the new information (I've already had them call me three times on this) and see what is then said.
So far, they have been useless.

·11 months agoPossibly the issue is limited to certain categories, such as sports cards.
I just placed a bid in a different category without being required to provide a payment method, and the bid was accepted by eBay successfully.

·11 months agoHaving the same issue. On with Ebay and they are saying its a known issue. Stinks for sellers that are not getting the bids that folks are trying to bid on. A friend of mine gets most of his bids in the last hour, and has lost thousand of dollars this morning on sports card sales with stuff going out way under value

OP11 months agoSo I found that if you enable allowing spendable funds, the problem seems to go away. Ideally, you wouldn't have to do that though. It might be a bug on the eBay's back end. I saw your post just now. I'm experiencing that exact same issue.

Can you bid if the seller does not require a payment method in advance?
Not every seller requires a payment method in advance, but if your payment method does not support a reversible payment hold or you do not meet your seller's requirements to buy, you will not be able to buy from that seller.
I have seen a recent post a buyer with a similar complaint, so there may be an issue:

It might be worth figuring out what the two of you have in common or if there are others experiencing this.

and if you've bought anything from them, recently.
I saw another discussion which shows in some sellers settings
that they CAN be set to limit purchases from customers.
It can either be choice or maybe they don't realize the settings are set that way.

OP11 months agoThey're not from the same seller. It seems that the problem goes away when I also enable using my spendable funds, but ideally, I don't want to enable that, as I want to be able to withdraw those without accidentally spending those.
