Too easy to buy shipping by accident and way too difficult to get refund for erroneous purchase.
Summary: audifantom expressed frustration over accidentally purchasing redundant shipping labels and the subsequent difficulty in obtaining refunds. nyr134 suggested improvements for clarity and encouraged patience, while yeswayrecords and others emphasized personal responsibility and careful reading to avoid such errors. Despite the issues, nyr134 and another participant encouraged audifantom to consider continuing as a seller with greater caution and understanding of the platform's processes.
One click, instant purchase and instant removal of funds ..even if redundant!
No refund two weeks since funds were removed from account for two unwanted, redundant, canceled shipping labels.

Purchasing a shipping label using a Desktop does not take a single click. IDK about using the App, but others certainly do.
However, after you have the info about the package entered, it tells you the shipping option. Then you select one of them and after that you approve the charge. So plenty of time to see if there is an issue.
You have not been 'burnt" by anyone. You are being treated like everyone else does in cases like this. It is also outlined in the policy pages. IF you cancel/void a shipping label it can take 3-4 WEEKS for the CARRIER to refund the seller because they have to make sure you don't use that label.
Just learn from your mistakes and move forward. You should be just fine and made whole in a few days.

OP1 month agoI did make a mistake and I got burnt bad!
I know better now, I wont make that mistake again.
This is my first and last time selling and I found out a lot after the sale that I know should have been clear before I agreed to sell on Ebay: Too much info was seemingly intentionally withheld or hidden in fine print. This feels like part of a pattern of deception over clarity.
I cannot accept the many unfounded delays in payment. There is no good reason and was not clear before I singed up, but should have been very clear.

·1 month agoI am sorry that you feel that way - and hope that after some time to reflect, you come back here as a seller. Obviously, this forum is mostly populated with stories of transactions that have not gone well. But consider that there are millions of sellers (18 million?), most of whom make some decent money and many of whom actually have some fun doing so.
They span educational backgrounds and have diverse degrees of business and system savviness.
I didn't realize that this was your first and only sale. Please reconsider selling again. Get to know the basic rules and don't put too much at risk in the beginning. And go slow. It isn't that difficult to master.

·1 month agoThe world of the internet is full of mistakes which can be made by people. Not all of those mistakes can be remedied, and those that can be remedied may not be remedied in a quick and easy manner.
Care is required in what you do, and you need to educate yourself before you attempt anything which could result in loss.

OP1 month agoCharge an estimate at package scan (not button click before label has even been proof read) , full charge should not happen until delivery anyways.
Make sure a label has not just been paid for on the same order, before charging for duplicate.

There is a warning when you try to buy the 2nd or more label for an order.
I print labels from this page, if I have already bought a label, it won't show on Awaiting Shipment'

OP1 month agoIt should not allow you to buy another until the first is refunded.
Fine print does not help , use normal or large font ! ????
Make clear it will take 3 weeks to get refund ...in large font.

Some orders take multiple packages.
It's USPS that takes the 21 days for the refund. That's not eBay.

·1 month agoThe lesson here is dilligence.
As a seller, it will be of great benefit to develop an organized, disciplined approach to ebay selling - a consistent routine.
It is always wise to double check the work being done. This avoids the situation described here.
Also best to keep in mind that it is not ebay's responsibility to make sure a seller purchases the correct label, or the correct amount of labels.

OP1 month agoDiligence is preventing first timers from making a very costly, avoidable mistake.
I doubt anyone makes the mistake twice, too many make it once.
Increase fine print font size.
Make clear instant charges at button click.
Make clear 3 weeks wait for refund.
Too many make this mistake for it to be a mistake.

·1 month agoAny suggestion on how the system can make it less easy to buy "unwanted" labels yet still make it easy to buy the labels that you want?
And USPS needs to have a window of time to ensure that the erroneously purchased label doesn't get used.

Make clear 3 weeks wait for accidental order refund.
Distinguish between multiple labels per order and multiple mistaken labels ordered, by clarifying at check out, if not as data in the ad: it will have multiple labels.
