store keyword search is still not working

I am still waiting for the tech department to fix this and am tired of waiting

three out of four search bars on ebay show 0 results with certain single keywords

does anyone now what is the status of this alert..... ebay ALERT 14435

i spoke to ebay 5 minutes ago and was given a credit of my store fees for Feb.

I am getting tired of the search bars not working in my store

the search bar in "see other items " is also broken and the main one in seller hub is still not working

that is three search bars that do not function as intended

This isn't store keyword search, but someone suggested that if one search is broken, they all are.

When a search turns up no exact matches, eBay will attempt to expand the search to find some likely results -- either results matching fewer terms, or results with the keywords in the body of the description.

If you look closely at the black cat candle listing, you will notice that the body of the description contains a very long essay about Halloween in light grey text which contains all of your chosen search keywords.

Forgot to say that I have several specific examples of how the SEARCH function is defective .

Please let me know if anyone is interested, I'll be happy to provide the details.

And, YES, of course buyers are going elsewhere when they believe that the things they

are looking for aren't available here on eBay. It's terrible!

Hey everyone,

This issue is absolutely sitewide! And it is NOT specific to / limited to eBay Stores.

I don't have a store, and have the same exact problems when searching my

active listings in the Seller Hub.

Also, when you say there are "3 search bars that aren't working", you are correct...

they aren't! However, I'm inclined to think that they all use the same search algorithm, no?

It's SEARCH, in general, that isn't working (at all!). It's not multiple problems that are

specific to where a search is conducted (Seller Hub, Store, the eBay general search

bar, etc.). It's important to have specific examples from all the different search aspects in

order to troubleshoot the issue.

I guess I don't understand why eBay has multiple tickets for this problem that

are specific to where a search is done. It just doesn't make sense to me.

No wonder things seem to be so disorganized, and tickets are being lost, etc.

TIME TO EDIT EXPIRED, REPOSTED, SO SORRY I searched for pyrex in my active listings, should have 3, results are 0. search for flameware, the pyrex flameware comes up. Search for amber, the amber pyrex comes up. Put pyrex in quotes, all 3 come up. Try to edit all 3, wouldn't work, tried again, nope, tried 10 min lates, finally get edit screen.

Same thing in my store

Pyrex in quotes works

THEN, searching for flameware gets me 14 results for flatware, and these results aren't flatware

I know I'm a small seller, and I'm not an IT, but I see lots of posts saying search doesn't work, then it does, then ebay rolls out a new look, then search doesn't work, but hey, it works with quotes, then searching dodge challenger in Toys gets you zero in toys, but lots in Auto, unless you add diecast.... combine this with lackluster sales and maybe buyers searching are not finding what they want so they go elsewhere. Maybe most buyers aren't coming to the community when search doesn't work, most aren't adding quotes, maybe they're just going elsewhere. Maybe if search was fixed and IT didn't make 'unnecessary' changes like store pop ups and such and concentrated on issues that come up, customers (which includes buyers AND sellers) would be more content. Sorry for the doubled pictures, I couldn't delete them in the edit, if there's a button, it hid from me. Sorry if this seems like a rant, I was attempting to edit categories and add items to store categories, and not being able to search properly has had me working on this for over an hour.

but apparently you can't get anything done/reported because it's a "not sitewide" problem.....or at least not enough reports to be considered site wide.....

Can you, at least, guide the stores team/person in charge of stores and Seller Hub team to this thread so they might delve into the problems and perhaps get something done?

I'm chiming in here too since they seem to be ignoring us. This issue has been going on for at least 2 solid months now and it needs to be fixed. I don't know who's supposed to be working on this or what they did but it's obviously going to affect sales and if buyers aren't finding things they'll shop elsewhere.

I am selling things made by the manufacturer "Siemens" in electrical B&I, that searchword does not work in my active listings or even my store page. I have to query the entire website and sort by distance to find my own listings with that brand. Many such cases, and pretty annoying to say the least.

I tested Siemens also, and can confirm no listings show up with that keyword..........

I would also point out that searching for encore in Seller Hub/active listings also returns 0 listings........that problem may be being lost in the discussion about stores search problems......

When you click on Blue Socks

The 'Red Shoe' listing shows up

Was doing it over the weekend. Then 'stopped' and looked like it was fixed on Monday

@@stainlessenginecovers Same thing is happening to me. If I search the word "ornament" in my store or in seller hub I get ornaments but I also get 3 other items that don't have the word ornament anywhere in the listing name.

I called up ebay again and noticed I am suppposed to be getting premium service since I am a concierge member. I asked about my credit and was told that the fellow I spoke to yesterday did not mention it in his notes.

I called up yesterday morning and spoke to a nice lady about alert 14435
she said she could not find it, did not know anything about it. I explained my problems about the broken store search and she could easily see its still broken.

I asked about $21.99 for the store credit since the search has been broken since december.
She told me the credit department does not open till 9AM estern time

I called back at 930AM and asked for the credit department and the fellow told me he could take care of it. he told me he put in for my credit of the store fees or $21.99

the fellow also could not find the alert.

I called in ths morning to ask where is my credit and the male CSR told me that is was not filed for, it was not in the notes from yesterday
I feel like an idiot when I am lied to by a CSR. there was nothing in the notes from 2/27 about a credit

The CSR from today 2/28 files for the credit and said he would email me when he has news.
todays CSR also told me he could not find alert 14435.I asked him, "cant you search by alert number" and was told they cant search by the number, they have to search by keywords such as "broken store search".

he could see that I was added to some ticket a few weeks ago when you did recommend calling in with the alert number

what is the point of being added to a numbered alert such as 14435 if they cant refer to it later on, what is the point of having a number when they cant find it
I just dont get it.

Devon, you are one of the few blues who is eager to help or jump in when called upon.
I fell like asking about the 14435 alert with a CSR is just pointless if they cant find it

could you please give us on update on the still broken store search or ticket 14435.

Hey @1tuna! I apologize about the troubles you are going through with this tech issue. I just did a check to see what the status of the ticket is and it looks like it has been removed. Usually when that happens that indicates it should be resolved. In this case since the alert number has been removed and you are still experiencing this issue, customer support will need to create an individual ticket for your account. You can let them know that is is an issue that was previous sitewide ticket and had the following description to it:

"When using keyword search in Active listing page and store page is not showing results (January 26, 2023)"

With that they should be able to better assist with this and hopefully have a resolution for your account as soon as possible.

@devon@ebay I've filed a ticket for the same issues. I started a thread in the seller section of the discussions and shared screenshots of just one example of the issues. This has been going on since early January at least and I figured it would be fixed but it's still going on and if we're not finding things in our store or seller hub that means it's happening to buyers as well. We're paying store fees every month and for what?
