Shipping label amount is incorrect
I have used the shipping calculator for USPS Ground advantage for a 2 oz package, 6x7x3 inches from 98607 to 27408: retail is $8.75, my price with discount should be $5.52.
I am attempting to purchase the label however the system wants to charge $10.02!
I have triple checked to make sure my entries are correct and that I'm not paying for add'l services such as signature.
Please help!

·7 months agoThis is not a tech issue @tkn_tony . The irregular package surcharge is $4.50. You're seeing a rate $4.50 higher because you have irregular package selected on the listing form and on the label page.
In the screenshot you posted in reply #5 above, see underneath the weight/dimensions where it says "contains non hazardous materials"? Now look just below that on your label page (cut off on your screenshot) and you will see you have erroneously selected irregular packaging.
While I'm sure you did not select it on the label page, you did select it on the listing form which is why the data is transferring to the label page.

I contacted eBay through Facebook and was advised
"I was able to see that this is a known issue. At this time, there isn't a work around it. As such, you may consider contacting your USPS and purchasing the label through them".
😉
At any rate, my item needs to go on 2/10/26, so I will see what tomorrow brings. Worst case scenario, pay full retail for ground advantage.

·7 months agoYou never need to pay full retail. Create a free Pirate Ship account as a back up. The USPS rates are the same, and sometimes can be a smidge better. It works great as a back-up. Just be sure to enter the address of your buyer correctly and upload the tracking number. Better yet...look at that setting wasting time tagged you in.

·7 months agoIt's worth pointing out, as this discussion has dragged out for so long, the answer was provided by @stainlessenginecovers . First reply, first sentence, the answer is right there. If OP checked that setting this would have been solved for them in no time at all.

·7 months ago@tkn_tony This is sad to see the reps on FB are starting to just 'make things up' like the 'phone' reps do.
It is more than clear you have 'irregular package' checked, as @wastingtime101 pointed out, that 'new' cost is now $4.50 (was just $4 not too long ago) so that adds up:
$5.52 plus $4.50 = $10.02

·7 months agoSeems like every day there is a thread about postage costing more than it should - often with lots of choice words being used to describe both ebay and USPS. And at the end of the day, it was the seller who accidentally checked the irregular size box.
Maybe ebay could add a popup that appears if you check the box, to remind you that this is going to make your parcel cost more, and it will only be your own fault and nobody else's.

·7 months ago@dhbookds As I said, for the weight class that was noted by @tkn_tony , 2 ounces, the dimensions you enter do not matter unless your package is over 1 cubic foot in size. Obviously a 12x12x12 box would weigh more than 2 ounces on its own and you would never actually ship something that large with a 2 oz weight. When you are printing your postage for an actual 2 oz package, you can leave the default 1x1x1 alone or enter in any values up to 12x12x12 and the postage cost is the same.
Your example is misplaced because you used 4 LBs as the weight class. I was speaking to the weight class the OP provided. (I was speaking to the OP and their situation, please excuse any confusion.) For 4oz, 8oz, 12oz, 15oz, and 1 lb weight classes, the dimensions are not relevant as long as it is 1 cubic foot or less. Anything in the 2lb weight class or greater, the dimensions do matter, even for less than 1 cubic foot. I'm not going to go through and do all the screen shots. Just play around with the numbers and you'll see.

I don't understand that statement......It does matter as to what the seller pays.....using USPS at least.

Can you post a better screen shot so we can verify you do not have anything else checked and so we can see what shipping prices are showing up, even for other carriers/services? Thanks.

·7 months agoThis is a reminder of why I also have a Pirateship Account. It is inconvenient when one or the other "glitches"...it's nice to be able to just buy the label on the other platform when necessary.
and, yes...5.52 is the USPS GA estimate on Pirateship, too.....

·7 months agoPerhaps a foolish thought, but have you attempted re-entering the dimensions with the largest number being the first dimensional entry? (7x6x3)
I know the carriers are wonkish about how dimensions are entered, and the largest number should be the first entry.
Perhaps, perchance this is causing a glitch?
Also, there is a 4.00 surcharge for irregular shapes. Sometimes this box/field is "pre-checked."
Be sure it is unchecked.

I think it's a glitch, hoping it will fix itself before I have to pay double for the label.

OP7 months agoYes, USPS Ground Advantage. Checked for typos, custome size is checked. 2 ounces, 6x7x3 inches is correct. Ship from zip is correct, buyer's zip is 27408. I cleared all cookies, restarted the computer. Stumped!
