Shipping discount I have set up randomly works now ... my customers are frustrated
Hi ebay Customer Service,
A shipping discount I have setup in my promotions manager seems to randomly be working.
Here's a couple of links if you guys want to try it yourself:
New Transformers comic I recently listed:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/176087004718
Items available for the promotional shipping deal:
I sell comic books. 1st comic purchased is supposed to be calculated rate. If customer buys 2 or more comics, shipping is $5 flat rate for domestic orders. Some customers, it's working. Some customers, it keeps charging calculated rate. Some customers, it charges a $10 flat rate (which seems to be the most common error).
I have contacted ebay twice regarding this. Twice via chat. I have 8 order examples I sent via ebay's help chat the other day.
It is frustrating that I can't call and speak to someone in my country any more (I used to be able to as recently as this past early summer or late spring). I couldn't even get the chat to work properly today to put me in touch with anyone so I thought I'd give the forums a try.
Sales have been dropping month after month since the summer, despite having great sales and over 7,000 items listed in the store and still maintaining my 100% feedback. This month and last should be huge months for my business and yet, I'm having two of the worst months I've had in a decade. I should be doing 30 to 50 orders per day like I used to do (back when I only had 3 or 4,000 items available) instead of 15 to 25. Something is really wrong! I'd like to get the shipping promo working again so we can at least rule that out as the problem and figure out what else is wrong.

OP2 years agoJust an FYI ... ebay randomly fixed this along with about a 1/2 dozen other issues I had been complaining about that were affecting sales. These issues were all resolved around February 1st (presumably a silent winter update that fixed known issues). It's beyond maddening that ebay allowed these issues to persist during the holiday season. November and December were two of the worst sales months of the year for my store due to these issues. I sell toys and comic books. November and December should have been the two biggest months of the year. It's crazy that ebay allowed these issues to persist and didn't respond in an appropriate time frame when these issues were brought to their attention. These errors cost them a lot of money as well (actually much more so than it cost me). I'm bewildered. Thankfully these issues have been resolved but the financial impact to my business will be felt for months if not years.

·2 years agoAlthough you won't probably see this; you just posted on a Public Forum manned by NOBODY at eBay, but just 'other members' like you.

Just to note.................. this is not eBay Customer Service.
Just other eBay users.

·2 years agoMy kneejerk reaction is that you offer Media Mail, but comic books don't qualify. Better fix that first...
ETA: At least that's how I read it. >> MEDIA MAIL SERVICE (usps.com)

OP2 years agoHi mtgraves7984,
Thank you for your reply. That feedback is irrelevant to the technical problem my customers are experiencing. I am specifically trying to get this technical error in front of an ebay team member that can get this resolved. Wouldn't the "report technical problems" forum be for ebay's tech support team or customer service?

@seibertron
No... eBay doesn't monitor the forums. But, by putting it here you'll likely hear from some posters with experience or knowledge that'll help you reach your end game. Hang tight for those sellers. Good luck.

OP2 years agoI am one of those ebay users with that experience and knowledge. I've been here for 22 or 23 years. Just trying to connect dots when things aren't working.
I ended up subscribing to the anchor store subscription so I could get through to someone on the phone. mission "accomplished" after 45 minute phone call, most of which was me waiting on hold while passed around until the final agent was able to get a hold of someone on the "tech" team. It was determined that it is indeed an error on their end (ebay Reference #1-471107614952).
Just switched my account back from an anchor store to a $60 plan. It is my hope that ebay will make an adjustment to my account because I shouldn't have to pay $250 more just so I can get someone on the phone for an error on ebay's end.
Fingers crossed!
