Sharing Listing to Facebook Error
As of this morning, I cannot share a listing on my Facebook business page using the Share link on the listing page. I can use the Store>Social tab to share a listing on my Facebook business page though.
After clearing the cache and cookies and signing into Facebook, I tried both Chrome and Firefox (Windows 10) with the same results.
This is a screenshot of the error I see
Any suggestions are appreciated.

·2 years agoI have checked my Facebook account and it is linked there, but Ebay it keeps telling me connection has been lost and to link again and that does not work. It will also not let me post to Instagram even though that is still linked. I have no idea. Then sales are also very slow today so maybe some work going on in the background

I have also checked my FB account, and eBay Social is linked. I do not use Instagram, however, since Instagram is part of Meta the lost connection may be related.
I also have Pinterest linked, and as of now, my accounts are still linked and I can share my listings there without issue.

Would you please check to see if we are experiencing the same issue with Facebook (Meta) API requirements as we encountered last year? Or maybe this is a new issue?
I lost my connection to FB yesterday near the end of auto-posting listings from the Social page and am unable to relink. Here is the error I saw yesterday (the error has since disappeared).

Hey @mcdougle4248! It looks very similar to the API issue that we had last year but I will double check to see if I can confirm that.

·2 years agoHi--having exact same problem but receiving different error message. I tried to put 4 listings on share--two different ways-and response was error message saying the FB app is NOT active. This has been happening for past few days. I assume some kind of glitch, but FB is important to me, so hope that the problem soon resolves. Thank you for posting as now I know it's not just my issue--I tried the automated system, but gave up as the issue is not in their field of choices. Happy sales to you....

·2 years agoHi-Just now noticed here that similar stuff was happening in 2023, but I am reporting this issue for the first time now on 2/l4 /24, so does that mean that the issue is still unresolved 4 months later, and now we can't list our treasures on FB? I hope that's not true. If any of management is reading my post, please update me & anyone else affected. Thank you.

I never regained proper use of the Share button on listings pages. It will only allow me to share on my personal FB page, which does not work for me. I do not want to spam my family and friends. I have a business FB page that is linked to eBay, but the option to share on my FB business page disappeared last year and has not come back.
Up until yesterday, I was having success sharing from the eBay Social page to my FB business page. Yesterday my eBay social page https://www.ebay.com/sh/social displayed an error that said my account lost its connection and I needed to relink my account, however, I can not successfully relink to FB.
I reported the issue to eBay customer service today.

·2 years agoI discovered this by accident which works every time for me. Switch to Facebook Profile then try again.

OP2 years agoI was just able to relink my FB business page on the Seller Hub Social page and create a post that was successfully shared on my FB business page. Fingers crossed this fix will "stick".
I still cannot share from the listing page, but heh this is a step in the right direction.

Is it an "outage" or intentional change on Meta's side that eBay is still trying to figure out how to meet the requirements for? 🤔

Well, at least there is a banner now so Sellers know not to try to mess with their Facebook settings to try and figure it out.
Since I rely heavily on "external" page views to get my items viewed I played around this morning and figured out this workaround.
1. Sign in to your FB Business page.
2. Open a listing page that you want to share on your FB Business page. Copy the URL
3. Go to your FB Business page and begin to create a new post. Paste in the copied URL. The main photo from the listing and the clickable URL link will automatically populate to your post. Add any text you want and post.
A bit time-consuming, but for me it is worth it.

Hey @mcdougle4248! I checked this morning to see if there has been a sitewide ticket open for this issue and as of now I have not seen one. I do have this reported over to a couple of different teams to look into. Also if you have not done so already I recommend to go ahead and reach out to customer support to have a ticket open on this issue for your individual account.

I did report (Concierge CS) the issue on the 6th. The rep I spoke with told me if (when) he heard back on the issue he would call me. So far, no callback 😟

@mcdougle4248 I was able to get some insight to what is going on from the product team on this and here is what they said:
"Meta (Facebook) recently updated their API requirements for businesses on their platform and connections for third parties. eBay is currently looking into how to meet Meta’s new API requirements, but there is no immediate deadline we can offer at this time for when this will be solved."

Thank you for the information. I find it odd that Instagram, also owned by Meta if I am not mistaken, is still working fine.
I too have all of a sudden lost access to my Facebook Page through eBay Social. I see a note that states the following on my eBay social page:
"Your account lost its connection, please relink your account"
If in fact there is an issue being caused by a change made by Meta wouldn't it affect everyone using this tool? I am also wondering why eBay would not post this as a notice on the Social Media portion of sellers stores.
Looking forward to a resolution.

Since earlier today, I have now also lost my Facebook connection on the Social page. I like your idea about placing a notification on the Social page so Sellers know what is going on.

·2 years agoHi! I hope you were able to resolve this. Today Ebay Social is not even recognizing my Facebook page. It literally worked yesterday. It keeps on tell me to create a Facebook page. It then opens up a page that shows how to create a facebook page. I have cleared my browser, etc.
It seems like this is an ongoing glitch.

I just did a test on my account and I can share to FB from the Social page. I still cannot share on my business FB page from the listing though.

·3 years agoStill with the same problem, we cannot share on our Facebook store/page, contacted eBay, they said they would have IT look at it, and of course they were no help. Anybody with a solution? We have used chrome, Firefox, rebooting, clearing cache, running crap cleane, still no solutions. HELP!

I am still having the same issue, too. I have just reported the issue to eBay. The CSR was able to get a screenshot of this thread and said he would send it over to the tech team. Hopefully, they will be able to get the issue resolved.

I cannot share my listings on FB using the share button, however, I was able to relink my FB business page on the Seller Hub Social page and can share to FB from there. Have you tried this?

·3 years agoHi! Did you ever resolve the problem? For the last 2 days I have been having the same issue. I have tried to go through Ebay and FB to fix the issue, but have not been able to find a solution.

Several days after I posted the original post the issue just went away on its own. Now, I am seeing the same issue has come back (started again a couple of days ago). I have tried clearing the cache and cookies, and signing out and back in of both Facebook and eBay, and the issue persists.
I am sorry, but I do not know what to do on our end to resolve the issue. I will give it a couple of days, and if the issue persists, I will contact customer service.

I am still having the same problem, too. At this point, eBay has not given an estimated timeline for a fix.
I am taking the steps I posted above to share my listings on FB.
If you discover a better workaround, please let us know.

·2 years agoThat is one way to do it, but is slower, instead of us sellers doing the work, eBay should get hold of Facebook and fix it right. It gets frustrating trying to fix their errors doesn’t it?

Yes, I agree with you that whatever is going on between FB (Meta) and eBay should be fixed by now. Unfortunately, the fix does not seem to be coming any time soon and that is frustrating.
