Sending images in ebay messenger

Have any of you sent SVG files thru the ebay messenger? I just tried and the image keeps pinwheeling saying it's "processing" and doesn't stop. If someone has successfully done this, please tell me how.

Or can someone try messaging me a random SVG file to see if it goes thru and let me know?

Honestly, I don’t think eBay wants that to be happening, or at least cares more about not processing large files through their messaging system than that possibility. I would try to find another way.

Forgive me for sounding ignorant, but why would ebay be against sending a high res image or vector file? I just find it weird that eBay states SVG files are supported to send within eBay messages but it seems to fail 100% of the time. Then again, we’re talking eBay here 😏

There are work arounds but it requires more work and effort than just plopping it into the eBay messages. Thanks for the help and attempt.

What happens if you change the file extension to jpg? Not convert to jpg, just rename the .svg part to .jpg and have the recipient rename it back on the other end.

Because of the high volume of messages/images sent regularly, taking up bandwidth and server storage space. Optimizing file sizes by 5% could have massive implications for the cost for their operations.

I’m attempting to send one to you now. It may be best to convert it to another file type if you’re having issues, though.

Edit: I did not even get to “Processing”, it just showed 50% and did not continue. SVGs are not as common of an image type as JPG, GIF, or PNG, so I would recommend just converting it.

But that seems to be the only vector based image ebay accepts, right?

I tested and sent a PNG file from one account to another and believe ebay compressed it to a lower quality.

I just responded, and it’s definitely not working.

I want to send artwork to another seller to create something out of it for me to see how it would turn out (and doing research for myself 😀). I tried sending a high resolution PNG to myself, it works but when I opened the file sent thru the message system, ebay downgraded the resolution to half of it's original quality. I'm basically trying to retain the high resolution of the image when sending it.
