Search Not Working on Mobile Correctly
Whenever I try to search for something or use my saved searches I get way too many results that aren't specific to my query on my mobile device (iOS). I have tried signing in and out. Logging on with both app and mobile web, but searching for anything is pointless.
On computer, it seems fine.

·2 years agoI believe i have found a solution that works on IOS. I went to APP and turned everything for Siri & Search. So far its acting normal today. Please let me know if this works for you guys?

What worked for me
someone on Facebook said this happens when they do too many searches by image. I had done a lot. I went into the search history and scrolled to the very bottom of the page and there’s a “Clear Recent Searches†option there. Once I did that, the search results became relevant again.
I’m guessing there’s some glitch with how eBay is using AI on the image recognition that causes it to become more and more inaccurate with the more image searches you do and it’s getting cached somewhere, causing issues with keyword searches as well until the search history it’s cleared.
Curious if this work around works for anyone else since eBay doesn’t seem to eager to look at it.

·2 years agoI’ve been having the same issue for a day now! It worked fine and then all of a sudden 50 million results started popping up when searching for sports cards.

·2 years agoI had the same problem looking up sports cards tonight. I went to the app settings and deleted all saved data. Works fine now. Hope this helps, android OS.

·2 years agoSame here. It was working fine yesterday (Tuesday). Now today I’m getting between 50-70 million non specific results. I have tried every suggestion on here so far, and have the most updated version of the App on my iPhone.
Has anyone wondered if this could be a hack with the National Convention having started today?? Timing just seems to be kind of suspicious if you ask me. I could be totally off, but with everything else that’s been going on as of late, who knows?
Hopefully they’ll have a fix soon.

·2 years agoSame problem here as well. Reported it numerous times using the shake your phone to report it. Running iOS 17.5.1 and eBay app version 6.168.0.2 .
The Recommended section at the top seems helpful but it isn’t since it doesn’t show individual listings, then I get 51 million listings to look through.
Anyone from eBay actually looking into this?

·2 years agoCalled ebay and they forwarded to IT. Still nothing back from them. Just glad its not just me. So frustrating so i feel your pain. Hopefully they find the issue and correct it soon. I'll keep you posted on mine

·2 years agoYou should be able to report app issues on your phone by shaking the device while the app is active.
Try using a different sort if you are using "Best Match". Try narrowing the results to one category. Try putting one of your search keywords in quotes. Try searching using a browser instead of the app.
Or try searching using a desktop browser or another device.

·2 years agoIt is not working like it normally does, kind of like a setting is off. I used to pull up item and get a couple thousand listings, now its like 50+ million of not relevant items. I haven't changed anything. I use my wifes phone with same app, version etc and hers is fine

What is different between the two situations? Are you using the exact same operating system? Signed in to the same eBay account on both devices?
If she signs in to her eBay account on your phone do card searches work, or not?
If when you sign in to your account on her phone you have the same problem, that might indicate the issue is account-based -- meaning eBay may be testing something on some users' accounts and only they are affected.

Same exact search? Same category? Same sort order? There must be something different if one device is providing good results and one is not.
If you save a search on a desktop device, then open the saved search with each device, are the results the same?

·2 years agoI'm telling you everything is the exact same, it's so weird and I think this is what these other guys are experiencing. Just out of the blue all my search results come back with 50+ million. Same exact everything for my wife and I. I thought maybe I hit something or whatever by accident and I did not. Checked all her setting and mine, all the same. I called Ebay and they had no clue but was moving it to IT. Weirdest thing I've ever seen. I'll try the saved search thing now and let you know

·2 years agoIm having the same issue for sports cards. Was fine early this morning but not working now. At the top it says “best selling†and than the “results†are underneath. But the results are 500,000+ results none have anything to do with my search

What version number of the app are you using?
I have seen many recent complaints from users searching for sports cards in the last day or so, but searches seem to be working for me using the latest Android version of the app (6.168.0.1).
If you save a search using a desktop browser, does the saved search work in the app?

OP2 years agoI’m on 6.168.0.2, but it’s affecting both app and mobile web. My guess is there is a mobile build issue
