Return process/links broken
When initiating a return, one is directed to a page here: https://www.ebay.com/rtn/Return/ReturnsDetail?returnId=##########
Steps taken from that page:
1. Click 'Contact seller' (the only other option on the page is 'Add tracking details')
2. You are presented with 2 options (radio buttons):
a. 'This is not about an item' OR
b. 'Enter item number'
'Enter item number' does not work for me when I enter an item number. This field does allow me to proceed when I enter the return id number instead of an item number.
But regardless of which option is selected on this page, you are then taken to your 'messages' page: https://www.ebay.com/cnt/ViewMessage and it appears as though a draft email to no one is created for you. This message is not to the seller, as it should be.
Since it is a draft email to no one, when you try to send a message in the chat ebay has created for you by default you get "Looks like something went wrong. Please try again later":

·7 months agoAre you initiating a return because you, as a buyer, received an item that's not as described?
If so, here's what the eBay Money Back Guarantee recommends: Go to your Purchase History and locate this particular item.
Click on "want to return". Reason: Not as described. This opens an INR case with eBay.
You then give your seller 3 days to respond. He can: 1. Send you a prepaid return shipping label and refund you in full when he receives the returned item or 2. Refund you without requiring a return or 3. Ignore you. With #3, you will want to return to the case you opened and ask eBay to step in. They will refund you and tell you to keep the item.
Please note: You have just 30 days after delivery to open the case and there is no need to actually contact the seller.
After you've handled this, please take a moment to read eBay's Money Back Guarantee.

Yes, I am initiating a return because, as a buyer, the item was not as described.
In fact, I initiated this return 3 days ago. But, instead of the seller doing any of the 3 options listed in your reply, they sent me an address in China to which it seems they want me to pay for shipping and return the item.
This is the reason I was trying to contact the seller, but was going through the broken process mentioned above.
I ultimately have contacted the seller and asked them for a return shipping label. I just was not able to contact them through the return-process-flow and instead had to go directly to my messages.
I think I'm just concerned for other people who may put in for a return for "item not as described" and instead of getting a return shipping label, they are directed to a page where the options are (1) provide tracking information (meaning the buyer needs to pay for return shipping which should not be the case with "item not as described") or (2) contact seller. And the #2 option on this page is broken regardless of what path is taken.
But yeah, to address the return itself - I have contacted the seller and am awaiting a reply. I also contacted eBay and they advised that seller has until end of day today to send a return shipping label. So I'm waiting patiently until tomorrow to take further steps on this.
