Newly Listed no longer sorting by date = useless
I maintain a daily search, refreshed thoughout the day, for Newly Listed items of a certain vintage manufacturer. Usually this is no big deal. But today I just noticed that the results I'm getting are no longer actually "Newly Listed." The 1st item was listed 3 weeks ago, the next one 2 weeks ago, the next a week back, the next today, then 4 days ago, etc. Not in any date order at all. I tried refreshing the search, restarting eBay -- no change. So a search for Newly Listed is at the moment completely useless. Is it me or are other people seeing this? If the latter, anybody found a fix? (Cuz I LONG ago learned not to expect any fixes from eBay.)

OP2 years agoOK, as of 8:30pm Eastern, search is finally working again. Huzzah. Talk to you all at the next eBay kerflooey.

·2 years agolike many others. I find todays random garbage search useless.
The items I am looking for are rare and the buy it now offers often may not last more than a few hours.
Sellers must be frantic. If I can not see what listing are new or ending, I can not add them to my watchlist. How can anyone bid or buy if they can not see the latest stuff.
I have seen this before, it sometimes takes a couple day for the fix.
If I want cheap imported junk, I will use amazon.

·2 years agoAdd me to the list of people. My search is COMPLETELY BROKEN. Using Firefox as I always do... can't sort anything. Super lame, eBay!!

·2 years agoI replied earlier saying I had the same problem, but having read other replies, I tried the search on an incognito window and it worked fine. I'm running Windows 10 on an HP desktop and I was searching on Google Chrome which didn't work. Not sure what this means, but if it works on the incognito window that's fine.

OP2 years agoThanks, good to know, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it "fine." The site should work w/o its users having to always scramble for workarounds to its constant parade of glitches. I concur w/the poster who said eBay tech folks seem to keep churning the system -- "improving the user experience," something it never actually does -- to show they actually did something so they can keep their jobs. Cuz lord knows you wouldn't wanna leave alone something that ain't broken when you can frack it up good.

·2 years agoSorting the results by any value is totally broken. Lowest to highest is not working either.

·2 years agoSame issue. It's fine on Chrome, but broken on Firefox. Works when using a private browsing window. Completed listings are completely broken too. There's not a best match for those, so I'm not sure what it's defaulting to. Searching within one seller's listings also does produces the same results. Second issue with the search in the last week....

·2 years agoIt seems logging into a browser which has not previously been used will likely resolve this for an individual buyer. However, I have to imagine sellers that rely on auction style listings are getting absolutely killed because of this.
I'm holding off on posting some listings because what's the point if users aren't likely to see newly listed items.

·2 years agoI’m experiencing the same issue on iphone 15. Sorting does nothing except for maybe best match I believe but everything else stays the same.

·2 years agoSearch is **bleep**, plain and simple. I always have to change from best match to newest and its completely trashed. And this so called best match; whats up with that, "WHO's BEST MATCH"? I cant wait for all these people to get their pink slips.....Its always something with eBay cause you have people trying to justify their job by changing things and screwing the whole site up. I am almost DONE!

·2 years agoI just made a post about the exact same thing as I did not see your post first. I just tried to individual searches and it's the same results whether I chose Newly Listed, Ending Soonest, Highest+Shipping first, Best Match------ All searches show exact same results, and I am guessing this has to do with ebay's heavy push of Promoted listings
urban_picker
·2 years agoActually it is happening on the ebay search also and it is not showing any "promoted" listings at all.
**edit** just checked actual Best Match and it is showing promoted there, my mistake.

·2 years agoI'm using Chrome and the newly listed items are random not by date which really sucks.

OP2 years agoI'm also on Chrome & have no ad blockers active, but the probelm persists across all of eBay's search filters. The same items come up, not sorted by date, not sorted by price -- no rhyme or reason.

·2 years agoI normally get sales every hour of the day, since this started I have had no sales or offers. Three hours of nothing on a Thursday does NOT happen.

·2 years agoIt appears to be a browser issue. It doesn't work for me on FireFox (whether logged in or not) but works for me on Edge (whether logged in or not). It also appears to work for me on Chrome (not logged in).

If you have a chance, it might be worth trying to see if you are able to sort correctly using a private Firefox browser window, or if it helps if you clear your cache or manually delete your eBay cookies in Firefox. Or if you disable any add-ons present in Firefox not also present in your Chrome or Edge browsers.

·2 years agoSo, yes it does work for me on FireFox when I opened a private browser window.
When search doesn't work for me:
FireFox (logged in or logged out)
When search does work for me:
FireFox private browser (logged out)
Microsoft Edge (logged in or logged out)
Chrome (logged out)

·2 years agoSame here. I am also seeing tags for "Hot Auction", on some listing, which I don't recall ever seeing before. Is this an "upgrade" gone wrong?

·2 years agoI see multiple complaints, but search still seems to be working for me. If eBay is making changes, they do not seem to have reached me yet. I have tried multiple browsers, clearing cookies and cache, and my searches continue to sort properly.
I am in the Northeast US, on a Windows 10 machine. My Android phone using the app seems to be sorting properly as well.
For those experiencing this problem, any difference if you try another browser or a private or incognito browser window, or temporarily disable add-ons like ad blockers?

·2 years agoall search across ebay looks to be only using "best match" no matter what you try to do.

·2 years agoSame situation when trying to follow 'ending soonest' auctions. Random order, refreshing has no effect.

·2 years agoYes, having the same problem. Just came here to see if anyone else was! I've noticed it for about the last hour. Closed everything down and tried again, same problem. So maybe need someone to look at this.
