“Until recently, I could copy or drag listing photos for research and authentication purposes. Now images disappear when pasted or can’t be copied because they’re temporary blobs. This makes eBay harder to use for legitimate collectors and buyers. Please restore normal image functionality or offer an option for static images.†I buy Stanley folding rulers, until today I could copy and drag images into AI and get help with evaluation. Buying them online and being unable to actually hold them and look at them is extremely difficult. Without AI I will no longer be willing to by on eBay. In the past two weeks I have bought 20 Stanley rulers on eBay many for hundreds of dollars this will be the end of my buying on ebay based on sellers photo's without out side help Stupid policy

·10 months agoI've created a folder on my desktop "eBay stuff" and "save as" into that folder and go from there. An extra step for sure but it has worked for me, at least the last time I did it anyway.
Edit: They save as a WEBP file. I just convert them to jpeg out of habit after downloading them by "open with" then "save as"................................

You can skip that extra step. When you Save As, just add .jpeg or .png to the end of your chosen file name. That will nullify the pre-selected .webp file type in the "Save as type" field. The file will be converted upon saving.
Using almost any other browser than Edge eliminates the issue entirely, as they save .webp files as .jpeg by default.

·10 months agoI use Chrome and typing .jpeg worked perfectly.
It isn't saving them by default but the .jpeg at the end worked.
Thanks for the tip.....never thought to try that.

·10 months agoGood to know. It looks like the issue stems from browsers that are built on the Chromium platform, of which there are many (Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave, more). I erroneously assumed it was Edge-specific.

·10 months agoSomehow, I believe your mode of usage has never entered Ebay's decision making process and unless it becomes a common request, protection of the IP of copyright owners will take precedence over your need.
Mighty clever usage of AI but preventing copyright infringement by AI will probably become an increased concern of Ebay. Many of the AI packages add these images when they are provided to their database and reuse them.
