list an item
For almost a week now I cannot list an item. When I upload photos they spin for a long time then appear briefly then just disappear. Sometimes the photos do stay but when I click on the blue button to list nothing happens. I haven't changed any settings on my computer or camera recently. Just doing everything as I usually do. Cleared out my history but made no difference.

·3 years agoThis is caused in Firefox when you add a image to the draft.
FF Version: 110.0.1 (64-Bit)
A draft without image can be saved (not published though, as a picture is required).
Adding a image fires 2 errors in the FF console:
1: TypeError: window.navigator.sendBeacon is not a function
2: The above error occurred in task iterator created by p created by anonymous Tasks cancelled due to error: p
Caused in javascript of ebay :

So, the f'ed up their own javascript i guess.
Or it isn't at least not compatible with FF (anymore?).
Not much we could do here i guess, except telling them they should get their **bleep** together.

·3 years agoFinal update before I burn my computer:
Clean install didn't work! A brand new firefox didn't help me. And, to top it all off, I can't even try Microsoft Edge again after reinstalling it because the captcha check to sign in on eBay is broken and I get a 400 error that the site doesn't exist.
Nothing works, even after fully uninstalling antivirus just to be sure.
(What tech support?)

·3 years agoNotice I didn't install the "latest" version of Firefox. I used the Extended Support Release (ESR) version:
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/102.8.0esr/
I am on Windows 10 btw. Good luck!

But ESR will soon also be on the current base.
So it's not a permanent solution, and running somewhat outdated browsers for online business is ugly too.
To sum it up:
- picture upload triggers an js error in current ff version
- which corrups save/list buttons
- originating in js code
A multi billion $ company should be able to keep up with Firefox compatibility to allow their users to list i expect ...

·3 years agoI guess I'm going to have to try a clean install of Firefox as well. I still haven't found a resolution to this problem. Two PCs and a laptop and I still cannot post. I manage to contact customer service, and 30 minutes later they simply acknowledged that it is an issue, and told me to wait 24 hours. That hasn't worked. I've tried disabling add ons, antivirus, and using other browsers to no avail. This has cut into my listings significantly, a peak time for me to post is right now.
The 'list it' button just breaks once I try adding a photo of an item - it no longer becomes responsive at all. Drafts don't work, nor new posts - only saved ones from ended listings seem to be able to get through.
I hope your trick works.

·3 years agoYou should be using listing software, which has been the fastest way to list for more than 20 years.
Listing are stored on your computer for as long as you like.
Using eBay's listing form or sell similar is like being a snail on the back of a turtle who is traveling in the opposite direction.

·3 years agoI used Turbo Lister for many years, but ebay totally killed support for it, so it no longer works...

·3 years agoSorry this is happening. I can understand it can be frustrating when you're trying to make some money and the platform you sell on doesn't want to cooperate!
Just do me a favor and try another browser, Firefox or Chrome or even Microsoft Edge. Sometimes, whenever I'm having a strange problem on one website, I find that using a different browser sometimes works. Don't ask me why or how. But let me know if this works. Thanks!

·3 years agoFirefox does not work on one PC, Chrome however does, other PC is Edge and it works. Cache has been cleaned on Firefox but still broken. Not much tech support.

·3 years agoOkay, a small update. I was trying to list on my Chromebook and it wasn't working. I tried just now on my desktop computer and it worked. Maybe it is a Chromebook issue?

·3 years agoI've been having the same problem for more than a month now, except in my case, the problem is on my desktop. I've tried clearing my cache and history but it makes no difference. Even tried using 3 different browsers, with the same result. Strangely, I don't have the issue when I use my old laptop... just the opposite of your experience. I've contacted eBay numerous times, online and on the phone, but they're absolutely no help. Everyone I spoke to said the same thing... "wait a few days and see if it fixes itself!" Very frustrating!

I have tried for a week now. Cleared cache thinking a windows update might have affected my desktop PC. Since I doesn't work on my laptop now I'm thinking it might be eBay. Hoping this get fixed since I have some baseball cards I wanted to list. Took a break for a months since I was busy with work and other activities.

This is a different issue than the original poster's.
If the problem is that the item description is disappearing when you list, the problem may be tied to a browser add-on. Other users have pointed to issues with Ad Block, Duckduckgo and a grammar checker called Language Tool. If you have any of these add-ons installed in your browser while listing or editing, a conflict with the new listing tool may cause the item description to be lost. It is possible that there are issues with other as-yet unidentified add-ons as well.
Try temporarily disabling those add-ons while listing or editing. Or else try using another browser that does not have those add-ons installed to list or edit your items.

·3 years agoI am also having the same issue. I've tried for 3 days now. Pics work fine for me, but when I click the blue List button nothing happens. When I click Save, nothing happens. When I click Preview, it gives me a preview of the listing I'm using to sell a similar item from, not what I just changed everything to.

·3 years agoSame thing here. It's like the 'List' button is broken. I thought maybe it was an issue with pictures at first, because the preview never shows what I've uploaded. And I've noticed every time I've tried to list though, I have a hard time getting my details to stick. If I'm using a draft, it automatically reverts back to the old year etc, and when I schedule the date reverts back in time constantly. The page isn't refreshing, and I've tested by trying to play a video while I'm editing the listing, so I know it's not a connection problem either.
I do tend to have more problems in the morning no matter what, but this has been for a while now.
