Keep eBay in English only
Hi,
my eBay account has been registered in the Czech Republic, I buy and sell from the Czech Republic. Thus, I have Czech language option in the top panel of eBay website, but I don't want to use it, always English only. I switch to English in the top panel of eBay website but after some time, it agains flips back to the Czech language.
Is there a permanent way to tell eBay to use English only on its website?

OP2 years agoWould be nice if we can solve this on eBay website. Obviously eBay website has some kind of bug that it forgets user's selection of the language in the top bar.

Are you seeing this on a PC, or mobile device with the app?

OP2 years agoI browse ebay.com on my PC only, using Edge or Chrome browsers.

·2 years ago@duseko - I thought the site language was always English only, anything else was a secondary selection - it's obviously tied to your registered country/IP address.
Do you see anything in your Personal Info settings that allows you to change or set the site language?

Do you have any insight into how to set the website language for non-U.S. users on a PC?
I think there are settings in the app to do that, but how to with a PC?

OP2 years agoThis is what the top of the website looks like for me: There is language selection - English or "cestina" (Czech language)
Anytime I select English it doesn't last long - after some time or after I visit e.g. my account preferences, it switches back to the Czech language.

·2 years ago@duseko Thanks for the screenshot - I'm familiar with the drop-down language options, but assumed English would be primary and you wouldn't have to change it. Apparently that's not how it works, eBay is changing it to match your country instead.
Did you check your Account settings for any language options there?

OP2 years agoI don't see any language related settings in my Account settings other than my country. But for obvious reasons I won't change my country.

While we're waiting...You can also try contacting eBay CS on social media - if you use Facebook or Twitter.
They have a very knowledgeable team there and are very good about responding to questions/concerns.
Only use the Private DM or PM Messaging - do not post your account info publicly.
Give them your User ID, your real name/address, the email attached to your account, and explain the issue in detail.
They usually respond in a day or two.

Hey @ferncliff-39 and @duseko, this may require some account-specific troubleshooting, in which case we'd recommend contacting our Customer Service team via your preferred method.
That being said, @krazzykats posted an alternative solution here that sounds like it might take care of the issue too.
I could be wrong but it maybe due the your country of registration. Or I could be the eBay site you’ve been browsing on. You’re currently in eBay.com USA.
