Item purchased from USA stopped halfway and refunded for no reason
Hello my purchase from an ebay seller tracking number 9434608205498404377144 has been classified as "non exportable" as soon as it arrived at the shipping hub in Glendale Heights Illinois, while it doesn't fall in that category. I've been issued a refund but the seller will not receive back its item. It really sounds suspicious to myself and the seller. Item in question is a dinosaur bone. I've purchased via ebay dinosaur bones before from USA and never had such a problem. I don't care about the refund because my intention is to pay for an item I wish to receive.
I wish to know what is happening and why. Apparently this location in Glendale Heights is becoming a black hole where many items disappear forever and Ebay doesn't seem very concerned about the issue.
Thanks in advance for any help!

OP2 years agoFrom what I can remember yes. It was shipped from Utah just like the last one.

the eIS program seems to possibly have set things up with more restrictions for "international" shipping than other methods.
The transaction is ended.
Going forward it would likely be best to purchase from a seller that is not using the eBay International Shipping (eIS)

OP2 years agoThank you
but what is happening then to the item, it feels like people at the shipping hub are just getting their hands on whatever they feel like, if they sent it back to the seller he could sent me in a different way

·2 years agowith the eIS program, those items, and others including returned items do not go back to the seller, but are liquidated. eIS handles the whole situation. Once an item gets to the hub, it is all eBay from there on. Lost, damaged, not as described, it's all on eBay.
Those not making it beyond the "hub" are done in the U.S. . They could appear again on eBay, or other sites.
Those items that make it to their "international" destination are said to be liquidate without return to the U.S.

OP2 years agoThank you very much!
I'm still quite shocked about what happened though, and I feel now I'm unable to trust the all system as before. Especially considering that each fossil is a unique piece and therefore it's irreplaceable once lost.

as I posted, these things sometimes pop up again for sale, and may come up with the same info as in the original listing. If it is not an eBay eIS listing it "may" be possible to export. Your own experience show that it can be. I know nothing about exporting "dion". Just know that the eIS shipping has their own exceptions/guidelines for some things.

·2 years agoMost sellers WILL NOT ship another way, besides, with EIS, once the sale is done, Seller keeps the money, so EIS will just usually 'destroy' the item or sell locally (since they now own it) but there are certain things and or weights/sizes' etc. that CANNOT either be Exported without a license and/or cannot be exported to your country, so Seller would NOT be able to 'just ship another way' anyway (typically-as it must be restricted).
You can google what items are restricted to be imported into the UK

OP2 years agoAs I wrote previously, I purchased dinosaur bones on ebay from USA before and received them smoothly within a reasonable time. That's why this time I felt it was a (very bitter) surprise. I believe labelling my item as "not exportable" was arbitrary and unjustified. Probably a decision made by a very "peculiar" employee. I'm trying not to think "a personally interested" employee, but that idea remains in my mind.

Probably not.
eIS has some unexplainable exceptions on shipping.
Possibly a "wrong" decision.
Have any of your other "dino" bone purchases gone through the eIS hub?
