Item location incorrect
I ordered an item that was supposed to ship from the US. It came, and it was shipped from Turkey.
Turkey is known for manufacturing counterfeit electrical components. I would never have ordered from this seller.
i reported it to ebay - they have a item to pick from a dropdown menu, the item shipped from a different location.
i included a picture of the shipping label, and a message with the seller where he admits shipping from multiple locations but using the US in his listings. EBay said the listing is not in violation of their policies. Are sellers really allowed to say it is from the US but then ship from internationally?? I have no button to appeal the decision or anything.

You can return an item as "not as described" if it ships from a location other than the location the seller claims in the listing.
Did you notice that the seller's account was registered in Turkey before you placed your order? That would have alerted you to the possibility of an item coming from overseas.
eBay will pay attention to buyer returns much more than random user complaints about a policy violation in a listing that is not apparent just looking at the listing itself.

OP5 months agoNo, not until you just mentioned it did I click on the seller to see they are registered in Turkey. My mistake, I honestly always just looked at where the item ships from. I won’t do that again. I have been using eBay (casually) since perhaps it existed to have different locations like that - I didn’t even know to check!
just wild to me that they had a thing to click on just for this scenario and I provided solid proof…I’ll keep using eBay only as a last resort. Thanks for your help.

Reporting listings can work for obvious things like contact information in the description, or when a contraband item violates policy, but it is less useful for situations where the seller may be lying about something that is not immediately obvious to a casual observer, like the actual item location being different than what the seller claims. Many of those reports are handled by AI or very busy humans that have little time to do more than read the contents of the listing before moving on to the next one.
A buyer returning an item, on the other hand, affects the seller's account metrics directly.

OP5 months agoIt’s just a shame that I even wrote in my message that the included screenshot showed the seller admitting it. I can’t figure out how to add the screenshot here, but this is the text:

Hi Dear,
First of all, we understand your concern. However, we would like to state that we have warehouses in the US, UK, and Turkey. Most of our products are located in our US warehouse. eBay requires us to list only one warehouse address, therefore we have provided our US warehouse address. The product is shipped from the address where it is located or whichever address will deliver it to the customer most quickly.
Also, please feel confident regarding the authenticity of the product or our company. We have sold hundreds of products and have not received a single negative review (you can check our eBay account).
All our products are original, and we work directly with the brands. We want you to know that we will always be there for you if you experience any problems.
Thank you.
