I need to contact an actual human about an actual company issue
Im calling this a tech issue but im not sure what else it could be called. I needed a one time passcode, which i have gotten several times in the past, they are always random numbers and letters that spell out NOTHING. Two days ago, i got this "7FUFAG"......I screen shot and everything I promise it is real. There are many people these days who would run to CNN with that and try to make it a gigantic issue, but im not a sensitive clown. HOWEVER....two of my uncles are gay and i have gay friends, i myself spent many awkward years in my late teens being labeled as " Gay " LoL But thats beside the point....that is just wild...those letters shouldn't even be able to go beside each other. DOn't tell me the codes are random, because all those programs have rules to stop **bleep** like that. Not to mention when i tried to talk to customer service about it, they said " what would you like me to do about it " and then " are you still in the conversation " and left it after 30 seconds LoL Who could i even get in touch with about this, honestly, **bleep** like this really does hurt a lot of people and it can easily be fixed.

Hey @wastingtime101 thanks for the tag. @catsncadillacs while I do believe this to be truly a coincidence, I'll gladly pass along a couple recommendations to alleviate this issue and prevent it from happening in the future.

·2 years agoI suspect it really is random.
When it comes to listing censorship, Ebay is as sensitive to preventing offense and discomfort as any other website. For a process which is likely to be automated as you sought, no human prejudice is likely to have been possible.
Defending Ebay is not my pleasure. IMO their censorship goes too far some of the time.
I met my first openly gay adult, a Spanish teacher in my sophomore year of high school, 64 years ago, and have had gay friends, relatives and acquaintances, open and closeted. Never seen the sensitivity to slights comparable to this time before, and there were certainly greater provocations in the past. That Spanish teacher was one of the most popular teachers in my high school in 1959 and 1960.

·2 years agoEDIT: Ohhhh now I see what's circled in red. Sorry I totally missed that before. I didn't maximize the screenshot earlier and the letters were too small to read without zooming in. My apologies.
Yeah, that stuff is random. I am sure that is not a shot at anybody's sexual preference even though there is initial shock value seeing it. I think it's a very unfortunate coincidence of random letters and numbers.
Your suggestion is whatever system eBay is using to generate these random passcodes should have some kind of censor in place to block specific strings of letters that may form offensive words, yes? In that case, you can take this to social media if you really want to get eyes on it. If you prefer a less public approach you can tag one of the eBay reps on this board like @kyle@ebay and ask if he's willing to pass on this feedback to the right department.
