I got scammed and eBay did absolutly nothing about it
Hi everyone reading this.
I've been using eBay for over thee years and I thought eBay was a secured place until Jun 16, 2023.
I bought a brand new phone from a scammer (tracart4). They sent the alleged item in record time and got delivered in three days, but the item was never sent to my street and house number. How do I know that? I went to USPS and got a written letter showing that the item was sent to a different street and building number.
I contacted the seller multiple times and they never responded to me, NOT EVEN ONCE. I reported to eBay my situation in the hope to receive the item or my money back. Their excuse was that on their end the item shows that it was delivered, but they cannot see the specific street and house number the item was sent to. They did not care for the proof I gathered from USPS which customer service from eBay told me to gather. The seller could not show proof that they sent the item to my house, however, I did receive official confirmation from USPS and they took the seller's shipping status over my specific proof.
eBay won't take responsibility; it's their fault. My friend who is a seller told me that the seller has the option to create the shipping label through eBay or they can independently create their own. Why would eBay allow sellers to create their own label giving them the chance to submit to the carrier a random street and house number? If eBay cannot confirm the street and house number that should not be an option for the seller unless when there is an issue like mine they would investigate the street and house number, but they never did.
I did not know that this type of scam was so common; I did some research and found out that many buyers have been scammed the same way. That means if people want to steal money they can easily post items on eBay, not use the address the seller posted on eBay and send it to the same area the buyer is from but different street and house number. The item will say delivered and eBay will take that as their final proof that the item was successfully delivered. They will side with the seller and ignore the buyer's official proof from the carrier. They will not ask the seller to show official and detailed information.
Whoever reads this, good luck using eBay.

OP3 years agoI explained my case and sent eBay the proof from my carrier as you suggested, but they sent me an automated message with a link that which took me to square one.

·3 years ago@vifelip-0 I recommend appealing on social media with the proof that the item was not shipped to the address you provided. This way you can also attach the images and are not dealing with the automated system.
Contact customer service by sending a private message on social media. You leave a message and an eBay employee will get back to you as soon as possible. To speed things up you can leave your registered account information in the PRIVATE message: Full name, address, phone number, email address, user ID, and a brief explanation of your problem.
