Help finding a live online agent
Summary: cobry-863 is seeking help contacting a live agent on eBay due to issues with a seller using a tracking number scam and having been denied an 'item not received' case. eburtonlab suggests using social media, specifically Instagram, to contact eBay if documentation from the shipping service shows the tracking number is false. They advise filing a 'not as described' return if social media support doesn't work and mention the possibility of recourse through the payment method. cobry-863 plans to try contacting via Instagram, as the issue involves a wrongly shipped trading card.
I don't know if I'm in the right place, but I need help contacting a live agent online through ebay. I have chatted with the AI bot, but everytime I ask for an agent, it says they will call but I can't take any calls. I also don't have any social media accounts so I can't contact them any other way besides directly through ebay. I am dealing with a seller using the tracking number scam and I have been denied an item not received case. I am trying to contact a live person to help walk me through what I need to do. I have spoken with online agents before, but I can't get through to them anymore.

·1 week agoAt the top and bottom of every page in Ebay are links to contact Customer Service.
There is not just one way to contact Ebay and there has always been multiple ways to get in touch with them. I hope you will save this information as it can come in handy from time to time. At the very bottom is a link in which you can request Ebay to call you.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT or ask an Agent to call you, in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

From this link you can request Ebay to call you in the USA. The option is available when Staff is available to respond, so NOT 24/7/365.

For dealing with false tracking, creating an Instagram account to contact eBay via direct message and submit your documentation is one option that has worked for users.
First, contact the shipping service used to determine if the tracking number corresponds to a delivery to your address. If the name and address on the package is not yours, you may be the victim of "false tracking".
One option to deal with "false tracking" is contacting eBay via social media, specifically via Instagram. If you can get documentation from the shipping service that the tracking number is not associated with your name and address, you may be able to contact eBay via Instagram direct message, mention false tracking, and get a chance to submit your documentation.
If you cannot get documentation or if that does not work:
Since false tracking allows a scam seller to win an "item not received" case, the next step would be to file a "not as described" return on eBay and be prepared to return exactly what you received if the seller provides for return shipping, or ask eBay to step in after three business days if the seller does not refund you or provide return shipping.
If you have missed your chance to get help from eBay, you may still have recourse through your payment method, but be sure to treat it as a "false tracking" fraud case, not a standard "item not received"/"missing package" case, which would likely be found in favor of the seller that has tracking showing delivery.
In the future, stick to experienced sellers with a long history and avoid new or unproven sellers, or sellers that show warning signs of being a potential scammer: drastic changes in selling behavior or offering deals that are "too good to be true".

OP1 week agoThanks. I will try to make an instagram account and see what happens. The item I bought was a trading card, they shipped something through Fedex and it shows delivered and I never received it. I opened the item not received case and they provided another tracking number through USPS and it doesn't show it has shipped yet. I'm hoping this will help my case.
