·6 days agoI have been dealing with this for over 2 years Customer reps. are of no use. The first rep. I spoke to had me sign a "release form" to give permission for them to remove it. It did not. I finally got in contact with the tech dept via email. They said I should perfrom several popup prevention strategies integrated in Chrome and try several blockers. All to no avail. After several back and forths, I was finally told they could not help me and that I should hire a tech support person. FINALLY, about a month ago I was speaking to a Ebay rep. about an unrelated problem who was very nice, knowlegeable and helpful. After he resolved my issue, I asked about the $10/5 popup. He said It is nearly impossible to get rid of and Ebay does NOT want to get rid of it. They use it not only to get new customers, but also to get the cell phone numbers of Ebay users for marketing purposes. He also said to move to a browser like Brave. Take this with a grain of salt! I give up!

·6 days agoIt's still there. Today it was $5.00. I started my own post about it asking if I can get rid of it before it gets rid of me. I even talked to a rep from customer service and it did no good.

·1 month agoI don't use a phone or tablet for eBay WORK. I use browsers on desktop computers. I view MANY HUNDREDS of eBay items per week and typically have 100-200 active bids placed (through a bidding service) at any one moment, plus a fair number of BIN and make-offer purchases. I am a professional buyer. These pop-ups are driving me crazy and making me want to STOP buying. PLEASE add a "no thank you" button on them that will turn them off for that user. Thank you.

·1 month agoYou can ignore ANYTHING if you really want to. I get this offer everyday as well and I just hit that little 'x' at the top and Mr. Bay takes it away. Simple, and it only takes 1.017275 seconds to do it.

·1 month agoYou have to take context into account -- don't make assumptions without first having full knowledge. I am a professional buyer. I am buying inventory for resale. This is part of my job.
BTW, if you think this pop-over is "garbage" why should we not complain about it instead of just being silent sheep and ignoring it. Nothing that is ignored ever gets fixed or changed. I regularly contact website owners, large and small, about problems on their websites and I get a LOT of the problems fixed. Just last night, I noticed a "powered by ...." notice that had suddenly appeared on a website that I use regularly -- when I clicked through to see what it was about, I realized that it absolutely should not have been appearing; there was a more serious underlying problem. I contacted the website owner (a real company) around midnight. They replied about 9 AM thanking me for informing them and they had it fixed already. If we all don't speak up, and invest a few minutes of our own time and energy, nothing will change (and that applies to everything in life, not just eBay).
