Existing active listings disappearing from eBay search across my entire store
Summary: **nmw** describes an issue where active listings in their eBay store intermittently disappear from search results across various categories, despite being well-indexed and previously searchable. They clarify that this problem differs from poor search placement, as items go missing entirely and later reappear without intervention. eburtonlab asks for a specific item number, but **nmw** explains the issue's sporadic nature makes a single item number insufficient to illustrate the problem. They seek clarification on whether this issue is covered by ALERT17029 or if others are experiencing similar issues with established listings disappearing from search.
Is anyone else experiencing existing active listings suddenly disappearing from eBay search?
This is happening across multiple categories throughout my store, not one particular type of item. These are established active listings that have previously appeared normally in search, received impressions and views, and in many cases have been searchable for some time.
Periodically, large numbers of listings simply disappear from search. They can later reappear without me changing anything.
This is not simply poor Best Match placement. I am running sufficiently specific searches for listings that I know are active, yet they are not returned at all.
My store is active and generating sales, and when the listings are visible they receive normal traffic. The issue appears to be intermittent search visibility/indexing, rather than buyer demand or listing quality.
I am aware of ALERT17029 regarding newly created/relisted listings not appearing correctly. However, what I am experiencing also affects existing active listings that were already indexed and searchable.
Is anyone else seeing this across their store today?
If an eBay moderator sees this, could you please confirm whether ALERT17029 also includes established active listings dropping out of search, or whether there is another current search/indexing issue?
I do not want to end/relist or unnecessarily revise established listings simply to force them back into search when they have previously reappeared without intervention.

Can you provide an item number of an item that does not appear in search?
**nmw**
OP1 week agoI can, but the problem is intermittent and store-wide rather than isolated to one listing. Items that are completely absent from search later reappear without any revision or intervention, so an item number that is searchable now doesn’t demonstrate what was happening when it dropped out. I’m trying to establish whether ALERT17029 also affects previously indexed, established active listings, and whether other sellers are seeing the same intermittent disappearance.

·1 week agoStep one is to find out if the listings are appearing or not for other folks when searching, or if the problem is just what you can see when signed in to your own account.
At the moment, I can see 912 items you have listed that ship to my location.

OP1 week agoThanks, but the issue isn’t whether my listings are active or visible somewhere in my store. They are.
The problem is search exposure, particularly Promoted Listings placement. Listings that normally appear in expected search results/promoted placements intermittently stop appearing there, impressions drop sharply, and then they return later without my making any changes to the listings.
So confirming that 912 of my listings can currently be found doesn’t address the issue I’m reporting. The listings haven’t been deleted or become inactive — their search/promoted visibility is intermittently disappearing and returning.
That intermittent nature is exactly what makes the problem difficult to demonstrate: by the time someone checks, the affected listings may be appearing normally again. When they appear I get sales. Last night 5 in an hour. When they disappear it’s dead.
