eBay's Search Function is Damaged

eBay's search function is highly degraded and this occurred only within the last several days. When doing searches using specific keywords, eBay is displaying items way less relevant to the search terms, whereas before it was more accurate. An Advanced Search for exact words seems to be the only workaround.
Also key search filters that once occupied the left sidebar are completely absent. With regards to the Coins & Paper Money category specifically, the most useful search filters - Circulated/Uncirculated, Certification (company) and Grade (numeric) - are entirely absent. These highly-relevant search filters were still present days ago, so eBay implementing the new condition requirements for US Coins doesn't seem like an adequate explanation.
What happened? Very frustrating.

What are you searching for, and how are you searching?
Filters appear more reliably when searching using keywords rather than category browsing.
If you are seeing less-relevant results and you are using "Best match", try another sort order to see if that provides better results.

OP1 month agoI am typically searching U.S. Coins, but the issue of irrelevant search results seems to be affecting not just this category. Again, I noticed a major negative shift just this week. The issue is not relegated to Best Match only - other sort orders also display unusually irrelevant items.
My primary complaint, however, is the disappearance of the three most important Item Specifics filters that allowed me to narrow down searches with ease.

OP1 month agoHave tried multiple browsers - the issue is system wide. Previously, a search for a specific coin - date/mintmark/type/grade - would yield results matching those descriptors closely. Now, searches display much broader results than before.
Most importantly, the 3 most important Item Specifics options - Condition, Certification and Grade - are completely absent. Only an advanced search for exact keywords will get me there, but this is far more inefficient than what I'm used to.

OPAug 17, 2026 at 10:25 PMIt doesn't matter which specific coin is searched, the results are consistently awful. A typical search will include the following three metrics:
Date + Coin Type + Condition or Grade
Search results used to be very relevant to these aforementioned keywords. Currently the results are extremely irrelevant. Only an advanced search will narrow it down; however, a search for exact terms typically excludes a portion of relevant items.
The relevancy of search results is only half the problem. The most important Item Specifics filters - Grading Company, Grade, Uncirculated/Circulated - having mysteriously disappeared is what really compounds the issue. I could deal with irrelevant search results if the original sidebar filters were still in place.

·Aug 18, 2026 at 2:49 AMIf you provide the keywords you are using, I can try the same search and see if the filters appear for me and if the results are relevant, which might help you figure out if the problem is with eBay or with your particular setup. I might also be able to suggest a different search that provides better results that you can use while you are waiting for eBay to address this issue.
