Ebay failed to confirm receipt of my order placed on 9/9/2026
Summary: jian9671 shared their first experience with purchasing on eBay, detailing a frustrating situation where their order remained in the cart despite payment submission. They expressed confusion over a warning about an additional charge and noted that the order was never charged to their card. Discouraged by the complexity of the process, they considered closing their eBay account.
I placed an order yesterday on ebay, everything worked out fine until checkout. The order remained in the cart although I had submitted the payment . The order would not evolve from the checkout stage because I did not get a confirmation to end the transaction. I logged on to the page with the order details including all of my biographical information and the date of delivery with "free shipping." Everything looked fine, except for the order confirmation. I did see some warning popping up indicating the buyer had to pay up front an additional charge I believe for shipping. This threw me off the rail because it was very confusing. My first experience buying from Ebay and I am already discouraged due to the complexity of the current system in place. I checked to see if the order had been charged to my card. Fortunately, it was not. Meaning the order never went through. Is it always this complex buying from Ebay? I will close the Ebay account on my first trial with them.

·1 month agoIt sounds like the item you attempted to purchase was from a Seller outside the United States - so there might be an issues with Tariffs, not shipping.
Possible scenario:
When eBay attempted to authorize the payment, your bank likely flagged the transaction. Because the final amount requested didn't match the initial cart checkout total, your bank refused to authorize it to protect you from being overcharged.
Because the bank blocked the adjusted amount, the transaction failed, keeping the items securely in your cart without moving forward.
I suggest that if you do decide to use eBay again, that you stick with purchasing items already within the United States.
