Contact seller errors and possibly misleading description.
I noticed a possibly misleading description of an object for sale and wanted to contact the seller about it but when I click on the "contact seller" link I get the following error message and the message window doesn't allow me to add any text.

OP8 months agoI have a similar item and was trying to see if it was worth keeping. The description says that the item is dated to 1906 but that date is actually a reference to the date a federal regulation was passed. The description says the regulation was passed on 30 June 1906. Obviously, the label had to have been printed after that date. It's still possible that it was made in 1906 and the seller may have a way of determining it. If so, I'd like to at least know if such exists.

·8 months agoAre you still having this problem @do-194118 ? eBay's been making tweaks to messages so you might have been trying to send a message when an update was being pushed out causing a temporary disruption.
Try again and come back if still having problems.

OP8 months agoYes, still having the problem. Haven't cleared all the cookies or tried more than two browsers yet.

·8 months agoYour account has just been created -- is it possible you have not fully completed the registration process? Have you added a payment method yet?
There may be limits to the number of messages a new user can send with a newly created account -- likely to stop spammers that create new accounts and then try to send lots of spam messages.

OP8 months agoThanks, that's indeed a possibility but you'd think they would indicate that's the issue in some reasonably understandable way. Haven't used ebay in decades it has changed in a number of ways.

·8 months agoI would say, sign out, delete your browser cookies, refresh the browser and sign back in. If that doesnt work, try signing in using another browser.

OP8 months agoI did try a second browser and got a somewhat different error message but effectively the same result. Will try the other suggestion in a bit. Thanks for them.
