Buyers cannot combine postage in cart after accepting offers.
Summary: almats65 raises a concern about buyers being unable to combine postage in the cart after accepting offers. There are no responses to this post.
Good day,
For quite some time, Ebay has been gradually rolling out a new feature where items remain active after offers are accepted by either buyer or seller. While understandably this feature was welcomed by some sellers, in my experience, it remains bugged and is guaranteed to cost sales in long term. Everything that I describe below happens on my selling account on Ebay Australia.
The main issue with how new offers work is that items with accepted offers are never moved into the "Awaiting Payment" section, which makes sending out a combined shipping invoice impossible. What is even worse is that I (seller) do not even get notifications about accepted offers. I have combined postage rules set up so that buyers can check out without requesting an invoice. However, after accepting offers, buyers can check out with each individual item one-by-one only. Attempting to check out with all items at the same time results in paying full price without offer discount. So, buyers can either get a discount on each item but pay postage for each item, or get a postage combined and pay full price for items.
I understand that I can refund excess postage, but this issue creates unnecessary friction with the buyers, requires more back-and-forth communication, and in some cases can cost a sale. I would like to be able to send combined invoice to buyers and combined shipping rules to work properly with new offers.
The aforementioned issues persist for at least 2 months now, and over time I have noticed more and more offers are now in a "new" format. The easiest way to differentiate between "new" and "old" offers is offer duration with "old" being valid for 2 days, and "new" for 4 days.
