Bug buying/selling barrels outside of CA
I know they blocked CA buyers from buying barrels in mid Jan on here due to new CA laws. The block appears to be bugged and blocking people from other states from buying/selling them starting today. I have had several non CA buyers contact me about this and tested it myself which gives the pic related message (I live in Mississippi).
I contacted Ebay's customer service on Facebook and they said it should be a bug, and that there would be an announcement if this was due to a change in policy. I went through the live chat twice and got the run around so I didn't know where else to post this issue but here.

OP5 months agoThe issue appears to be fixed now at least for me. Shout out to Maria from the Facebook/Instagram support team for escalating this to the correct people. It is a shame they are shutting these support teams down. Without her it is unlikely this would have been fixed nearly as quickly since we have no other good way to contact Ebay. I tried reporting the issue using the live chat as well to multiple people and they were pretty much useless.

·5 months agoI'm having the same problem, neither I nor the seller are anywhere near California and still getting restricted due to the California legislation.

·5 months agoThanks for the update. I also contacted eBay support on Facebook and they said it might just be a temporary bug. If there’s any policy change, eBay will announce it officially. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

There are better venues online to sell/buy barrels.....................

Identity and Age Verification: Sellers must confirm a buyer's government-issued ID before completing a sale.
Mandatory Buyer Notifications: Sellers must provide a written notice explaining legal restrictions, including the consequences of using accessories to build an illegal firearm.

Beginning January 1, 2026, California SB 704 makes it unlawful to ship or deliver any standalone firearm barrel directly to a California resident, requiring instead that all such barrels—finished or readily convertible—be shipped only to a California-licensed FFL for pickup.
Then, starting July 1, 2027, the law adds a second, stronger layer: the buyer must appear in person at the FFL and complete a DOJ-prescribed eligibility/background check, and the dealer must record and electronically report purchaser and barrel details (name, DOB, ID, address, caliber/model) to the California DOJ. In short, Jan 1, 2026, restricts shipping, forcing all barrel deliveries to go through an FFL, while July 1, 2027, regulates the actual transfer, turning barrels into an in-person, background-checked component transaction similar to a firearm.

·5 months agoIncidental note: Took me more than reading a few replies to realize we were talking about gun barrels and not the barrels that are sometimes used to ship produce, like bananas.

OP5 months agoCould someone from Ebay please have this looked into? Obviously this is detrimental for my business if I can't sell my items due to this bug.

·5 months agoWorse yet bidders are being blocked and you are not going to get a true representation of the value of your item if over half of the bidders can't bid the price up anymore. I have items I bid on and I was outbid and now can't up my bid. I would pull the auctions until this gets worked out.
