Best offer limits vs send offer limits
Summary: stepstonellc suggests that when sending a best offer to a seller on eBay, there is a requirement for a 5% minimum discount, and proposes that there should be a similar rule for sellers. Specifically, they recommend that if a buyer submits a best offer that is 5% or less off the asking price, eBay should automatically accept it if the "best offer" option is enabled. stepstonellc believes that sellers not willing to accept at least a 5% discount should not have the "best offer" option on their listings and considers this a flaw in the system that requires fixing.
When sending a best offer to a seller, there is a 5% minimum discount that you must offer to send a best offer.
When listing an item for sale and using best offer, shouldn't there also be a limit here that to use best offer, you must accept at least a 5% discounted offer? If a buyer submits an offer for 5% or less off the asking price, E-Bay should just auto accept that on a BIN item with best offer enabled.
If a seller isn't willing to take at least 5% off, they simply shouldn't list the item with best offer enabled. I think this is something broken with E-Bay that needs to be fixed!

·3 months agoThe algorithm favors listings with best offers and the listings quality report recommends it - sellers can decide whether to accept or not, for any reason or no reason at all. Newly listed items are less likely to sell at offer price until they have had time to reach more than one potential buyer.
There is no "must accept" because sellers have the ultimate say over their own sales.
