Are we going to get the seller ID back in search results or not?
It's been a while now since eBay stopped showing the seller ID in search results, despite the fact that it is still an item you can choose in the display options.
Is this information not getting to someone in eBay that has the authority to get this fixed?

OP2 years agoI am happy that it is fixed. I don't really need an explanation from eBay why it happened. I am fairly certain that it was not intentional and just took a while for the fix to get approved and implemented.

·2 years agoIt is currently 10:25 pm Eastern time and the seller ID is finally showing for me. I have no idea what that means. Did they fix it for Google Chrome users last? Was the test platform specific? It therefore could not have been the version of Chrome that I am using. Will we ever get any answers? Did ebay finally understand that both buyers and sellers were not happy with this test?

·2 years agoIt's a shame that there's no real explanation for this nonsense from a rep.
It's a bigger shame that this is the level of customer service that we have all come to expect.

·2 years agoJust to mention ONE thing that none of the posts in this or the other threads have mentioned AT ALL, The seller IDs and feedback ratings on ALL SPONSORED (promoted) listing is still missing and has been for a long time. Why is no one complaining and whining about the fact that they (sellers) are paying EXTRA to promote listings that eBay is scrubbing ALL of their personal ID info from? Don't make sense to me, only a buyer!

·2 years agoPlease bring back the seller IDs in search results.
The "Customize" - "Show seller information" does not work, I have unchecked it, saved settings, refreshed page, and then checked this settings again, but there are still no seller IDs, just a generic "Seller 100% positive (NNN)"

·2 years agoIt's been over a week now that this nonsense hasn't been fixed. I can only come up with two possible explanations:
1. eBay's dev team is completely and utterly incompetent or outright mismanaged.
2. eBay is lying to everyone and this wasn't an error or test, but rather a deliberate change they wanted to push out unannounced.
Either way, what a garbage company.

·2 years agoClearing cache and cookies DOES NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE.
I want to see who is selling the items I am searching for. I don't want to see, for example, "Seller 100% positive (506)".

·2 years agoPlease tell me what kind of operating system and web browser you are using. I am trying to compare it to mine to see if this is somehow affecting older computers.

·2 years agoHere is a workaround I just received from eBay for Business. Works on my PC using Chrome and fine on ca/com.
There are a few other discussions currently in the Technical Issues section.

·2 years agoI've always had the show seller checked in the customize section. Now it doesn't work. Using Firefox, Windows 10 on a computer. This is the dumbest thing eBay has ever done since they tried to keep PayPal out of Checkout before they purchased it.

From my discussions with a person from eBay for Business it was a feature they re turned on sometime today. It appears to be functioning but not at 100 %. It depends on the interface you are using and also which ebay site you are. It works "best" on ca fwiw. For now it appears to be a work in progress.

·2 years agoMaybe it is a feature they just turned on for Canada but the option to show seller in that customize place has been there for a long time here in US. And when someone asked the Ebay for Business people about the missing seller ID awhile ago we were told it was a "situation" that was being "resolved" and they would add sellers to the ticket.

·2 years agoThis does not work on Windows 7 and Chrome.
So this is half test, half glitch?

·2 years agoI think I left a reply on the previous post, but Google Chrome on Windows 7 does not work, no matter how much you clear cache or cookies. I had to switch to Firefox on Windows 7. So there are a few possibilities. The latest seller update may not be compatible with outdated versions of Google Chrome or the "test" is only affecting older versions of Chrome. If you have more than 1 computer, try it on an updated version of Chrome. Chrome can no longer be updated on Windows 7. If you have a very recent computer with all updates installed and this is still causing the seller ID to not be shown, continue to use the feedback button to report, try the Facebook ebay page.

·2 years agoIt has also taken away my coupons, buy 4 get 1, etc. This needs to be changed back to the better way. Stop taking our tools away to run our business on ebay.

·2 years agoIt had started working again this morning, then this afternoon it was back to the anonymous seller with no promotions. I have noticed that it's more prevalent on the desktop, as the App still shows the promotions (but no IDs). Sales are down now about 40% week over week since the testing/new format.

·2 years agoIf you want to see seller usernames in search, try going to ebay.com, then clicking on the lock icon to the left of the page address in your browser's address bar, and select "clear cookies and site data". Restart your browser, sign in to eBay and search, and see if you can see seller usernames in search once more.
Use the "Tell us what you think" link at the bottom of the search results page to report search issues to page developers. eBay is apparently "testing" something.

I've used the eBay lock method 3 different times in the last 2 days and still not seeing the seller IDs.
I'm to the point that if I decide to start listing again I'm going to put my seller ID in the listing title.

·2 years agoNo need; buyers don't look for 'sellers'- they look for items (99.9% of the time).
BTW, this is NOT a 'glitch' to be fixed- it's the 'new way' because ebay wants buyers to buy from ebay and the individual seller is NOT important- it's the item that is important (in their eyes)

·2 years agoWhen I was selling I had a lot of buyers who knew my name and were loyal repeat buyers.
Also, as a buyer, there are some sellers in the magazine category that I prefer to avoid because they are abusing Media Mail. I would hate to have to click on all the listings in a search just to "weed them out". I wish eBay would show the shipping category in the search .... not the method just the category like Priority, Standard, Economy. If I see Economy in a magazine listing I'll just avoid it altogether because it is probably abusing Media Mail.

·2 years agoTo the contrary, I do look for sellers in comparison shopping. Anonymous sellers in searches is absurd.

·2 years agoBuyers DO use seller name because doing so in a search meant that you could choose to also see seller ratings, which is important to at least me. Maybe I'm the .1%, though, lol.

And yet, like jump-starting a car, it is sometimes called for.
