A 7-Year eBay Seller: Account Permanently Restricted and All Listings Removed
Summary: happydentaltips shared their experience of having their eBay account permanently restricted after changing their payout cycle from monthly to daily. They were informed that the restriction was due to mismatched tracking numbers, which they believe is a misunderstanding, as their shipments complied with platform policies. Despite multiple appeals and a request for a manual review, the restriction remains in place, and their listings were removed. They expressed frustration, noting their long tenure as a seller and contention that sellers should receive warnings before severe actions are taken.
At first, eBay did not freeze my funds. But as soon as I changed my payout cycle from monthly to daily, my account was immediately limited and there was no amount available for payout. Aside from the system’s security risk control, my personal guess is that it may be because the orders were not completed and there might still be future fees to be paid, so the account was limited.
When I asked eBay customer service why my account was limited, the reply was that I had committed a serious violation: the tracking numbers I provided did not match the corresponding packages. It was a permanent restriction and could not be appealed.
However, 90% of my orders were shipped via EF, and I cannot modify or falsify that information. The remaining small portion was shipped via domestic SpeedPAK, as required by the platform’s policy, and no customer complained about receiving the wrong item.
When I tried various channels to appeal, the result was still the same and could not be changed. I asked for a manual review of the logistics and cases for all my orders, but the result was still the same.
A long time ago, there was a case for an EF-shipped order. The customer said the item was wrong, but the photo they provided was of a different product—one I did not even sell. The case was closed and the seller was found not responsible, but the case was later hidden and cannot be found. I suspect it was a malicious complaint.
After multiple appeal attempts, what was even more frightening was that all my listings were taken down. When I tried to relist, the message was:
“Your account is currently limited due to suspicious activity.”
It was a direct death sentence for the account.
As a 7-year seller, if I had really violated the rules, the platform should at least warn me first and give me a chance to correct it. Please don’t chill sellers’ hearts.
