Not as Described, Return or Keep? Help Valuing Royal Worcester Tiffany Ewer.
Needing some expertise on this item. Was recently purchased and the Seller’s description is not accurate with regard to condition, wondering if the error significantly decreases its value, or if it is still valuable enough to keep as-is.
Royal Worcester for Tiffany Ewer with dark green backstamp. Purchased for $140 incl. tax and shipping.
Looks as though the bottom was cracked and then somehow re-glazed and painted over at some point in time? Typically the 1867-1890 dark green RW backstamps have the Capital letter underneath the symbol to represent the manufacture year, but you can see this is partially covered now also, so it’s hard to confirm exact year (possibly ‘U’ or ‘V’?).
(Seller’s description stated - “It is in excellent condition with no chips cracks or repairs there are a few smudges as shown.â€)

If the crack wasnt mentioned and you feel it not worth what you paid, then file the Not as Described and go from there.
I always think chips and cracks devalue the item.
If the seller knew it was there ... who knows, but would you be happy with the item for what you paid with the issues it has?
Even if others come and say "oh ya! Thats a great value!"
If you are not happy with the quality of the item, then it is not a great value.
Will you in 6 months still be unhappy with the issues and wonder if you paid too much?

·1 year agoCould have been repaired, but difficult to tell without having it in my hands. Wipe it down around the mark or 'reglazing' and see if perhaps a crack shows up more visibly.
