    The curse of Postcard Copy

I think one of the reason my sales are going down is related to my own experience of trying to shop and finding the search results are mostly copies and fakes.   It is so annoying and frustrating I give up quickly.  I imagine many other people are finding the same experience.   Its been tough enough wading through the sellers who relist every night the same boring unwanted material for years, but now there are all these reproductions clogging the already poor search results. Its not a new problem but seems to be getting worse.  They steal other sellers photos, too.

They should have their own category and be easily reported.

At postcard shows, digitial download fakes are not a problem!

Does Ebay allow baseball card people to copy other seller baseball cards and sell the FAKE REPRODUCTIONS?

I've heard about buyers who get these COPY cards and are abolutely angry  and never use ebay again, and rightfully so, their first experience with ebay is to buy a REPRODUCTION FAKE.     Every ppc is a copy, putting that in the description is meaningless.

Also hearing this COPY slug is using "AI" to remove watermarks.  The only solution is to provide broken photos he can't copy or repair.   I know a guy who bought something on purpose so he could get the return address.

at a time when ebay is reducing categories suggesting adding categories falls on deaf ears i would think. how many present categories would need their own "Fake, copy, repro" category? And how few people would list there (much less search there)? I have not the best attitude, I know, but my attitude is - dealing with scammers and fraudsters (basically criminals from my perspective) on ebay (or anywhere else) is not my cup of tea. its a cost of doing business and is always best avoided.

It's getting really bad, to the point that it's affecting how people collect and shop for postcards. I now routinely get buyers asking me to sell them copies of my rare postcards, I never had this happen before the copycats invaded. The other week I updated the boilerplate on my new listings to educate buyers on how these sellers steal their images from other ebayers and encourage them to only collect originals. Ebay needs to do *something* about this; I like the idea of copies/repros having their own category separate from vintage postcards.

Amen.  And with AI, this is only going to get worse.  The postcard category on eBay has been a disaster sinch they switched to search by item specifics.  There are no "Thinking of you" and "Miss you" postcards.   At one time they thought there were "scratch & sniff" postcards.Postcards rarely show a "date manufactured."  And the the decision to divide all postcards between Topographical & Non-Topographical was really foolish.  The word "topographical" is too close to the postcard term "Topical;" very different meanings.  And unless a seller is somewhat familiar with postcards, he/she is going to guess what some of the specifics mean, thus making their cards unfindable in the search process.

And most of all eBay shoots itself in the foot; cards just aren't going to sell as well because of the way the category is organized.  You'd think they would eventually hire an executive with listening skills.
