OP3 years agoSeller cancelled auctions and lost two $15 sales. I lost out 2 good postcards. Oh well, someone else will have them one day.
Not shipping to PO Boxes is real dumb, folks! You can't get a PO box without a strong ID check.

·3 years agoI simply use my street address and po box number. Like: 1234 Anywhere St. #6000. Works for me.
(I also do not have USPS delivery on my street.)

·3 years agoAre they shipping using USPS? If so it is illogical to not ship to a PO Box. It's safer than your porch or mailbox and it gets delivered to a PO Box quicker than to your house.
If they are using UPS to ship then they don't ship to a PO Box. Does the shipping details say which method?
If they excluded PO Boxes you wouldn't have been able to bid and pay without a shipping charge being displayed.
If you get an unpaid strike ask eBay to remove it.

It is odd as I bid without issue but the message only comes up when I need to pay.

OP3 years agoI don't have a choice - on my street USPS does not deliver to residences (its too dangerous due to traffic) and they provide the PO Box gratis.
But the local PO, unlike the huge PO I used in NYC for years, won't allow us to use the PO street address for some reason - its not bandwidth they have plenty of time for administration.
It is not 1970. You can't get a PO box without providing a verifiable residential address and I think a SSN or EIN.
I'm not sure the seller can switch that off after a sale. - and yes I have contacted seller...

Not sure how it all works, but it is my understanding that there is an "option" for a PO to use PO street address with the box # for addressing. Just have to set it up. Some just don't want to do it.
Sort of like the Postmaster locally that had his own policy to refuse stamps for exchange. Postal policy is to accept unused stamps for "exchange". There is (or was) a process to be followed right on the POS terminal for such acceptance. Employee would be prompted to answer if the incoming stamps were usable, or not.
I can only conclude that the PM just did not want to be bothered with processing any unsalable/damaged stamps for destruction. (extra paperwork)
In your case.......................... don't know what their problem is. Seems that automation should handle the processing of your incoming item without issue. Perhaps they do not have the "option". Perhaps they do not want to bother.

·3 years agoI had a discussion the other day at my local "small" post office.
I mentioned I had just learned you needed the POs consent to use their address as a street address.
He answered "Yes, but we can't do it." Seems the physical size of the PO plays a factor in whether or not the PO allows delivery using the main address. Apparently my PO has no physical space to spare for packages from UPS or FedEx. They have undergone their 3rd interior redesign in 20 years, all done because the volume of mail has increased substantially along with the population served.
This is one of those Post Offices that prides itself in customer service. The counter reps are always friendly, always helpful. They welcome eBay sellers (prefer drop offs in the am) and scan all your packages. If you drop them off early enough (hour before closing preferred) they will scan your packages.
With that in mind, when they say "we can't do it" they really means they just can't do it.

·3 years agoAssume you have contacted the seller and explained exactly what a PO box is and that it's about the safest place to have your items delivered -- not sitting out on the porch available to porch pirates, in a locked box in a Federal building?
