Won auction for a car but seller does not respond.
Hi there,
did sent 2 messages to the (private) seller after auction ends for information where to pickup the car but no response. I guess the guy just don't want to sell the car at all and puts his head down.
What are my options?
How to tell Ebay they should stop sending me payment reminders because the Car is cash on collection only.
Cheers, Oli

OP3 years agoFirst of all, If I want to discuss things with the community, Ebay gives me this link to Ebay USA. I realized later that it changes from co.uk into com. Sorry to bother you guys.
The next thing is, that the seller did not get in contact with me. He sends me a message on Tuesday to give him my phone number but never called me back. This morning I got the message that the purchase was cancelled. The page said: " Done, the seller completed your cancellation. My cancellation? Sorry but it really looks like "Betrug". I must assume that a won auction is not legally binding anymore. I cannot give any feedback also.

·3 years agoAs mentioned previously, motor vehicle sales on eBay work differently than sales of other items.
They are nonbinding on either party so, yes, the seller is allowed to do exactly what he did, but he really should have messaged you.
Because of this experience, you "must assume that a won auction is not legally binding anymore"?
Really?

·3 years agoYour bid is showing an interest in the vehicle. Because vehicle bids are non binding either party can choose not to complete the transaction.

·3 years agoIs it a new seller? They often don't have a clue and slink off into the night. Still they could just not be around. I would wait and try again. Do be sure to inspect it well before paying.

·3 years agoI heard UK people love doing vacations at this time. And this was a Saturday.
I was out at a music festival this weekend and the last thing on my mind was eBay.
Give the seller a chance to get back to you. Seller could have gone away for the weekend.
Heck, I sometimes go to Vegas for 3 days.
Stop with the emails to the seller. He will probably get in touch.
eBay gives out payment reminders all the time. I had a buyer not pay for 4 days and nothing happened to the buyer. I ended canceling the buyer purchases after 5 days.

·3 years agoYour profile shows you are in the UK. Things might be different over there re car sales. I would suggest for better information, ask on your home board. You are now posting on the USA.com eBay page.

·3 years agoSince eBay sales of motor vehicles work somewhat differently than other eBay transactions, perhaps the seller has decided to back out of the deal, although he certainly should have notified you of that decision.
How long ago did this sale take place?

OP3 years agoThanks for your answer,
It was an auction without reserve. Won Sat morning, sent 2 messages to the seller, one Sat and today. No answer. Sometimes with a business account you may get a Tel Nr but no data about the seller available.
