Will ebay ask me to refund the buyer even the tracking shows delivered?
So I sold an item on July 25th, and the tracking shows it was delivered on July 31st. However, the buyer filed a request claiming they didn't receive the item. I quickly provided all the evidence I could, including the tracking information. USPS also indicates that the item was delivered.
It's been a week and ebay still holds my funds... so frustrating!
So, when can I expect to receive my payment? Or will ebay refund the buyer?

·3 years agoA message to the buyer with the tracking number isn't enough. Put the tracking number and the date it was delivered in the case. Eventually it will close in your favor.

·3 years agoIf it's been a week since your buyer opened the request, you can ask eBay to step in. You have to go to the page " Requests & Disputes" and you will see "Ask us to step in" . DO THIS ONLY IF: when your buyer opened this request , you replied within 3 days and supplied the tracking number that shows delivery. Once eBay sides with you the funds will be released. If you do nothing it will take eBay 30 days to close the request if you or your buyer do nothing. If you did not reply to the request and supply the tracking info AND your buyer asks eBay to step in, eBay will side with the buyer BUT you can then file a dispute.
In addition to supplying the tracking number showing delivery, it is a good idea to reach out to the buyer and make sure they supplied their correct and current address. Also have them reach out to their local USPS -- the scanners have GPS and they can see who the carrier was that scanned the packaged -- they can do an Intra office search and see the exact location of that scan. Also suggesting that they contact neighbors and anyone else living at their address ( Past montk I had 3 buyers who claimed their package was not delivered even tracking showed delivery scan. In the end, someone else in their household put their package somewhere and never brought their attention to this).
Good Luck:)

·3 years agoJust an FYI. You do say that you "provided the evidence" of delivery. To be clear, you should provide it directly in the claim, even if the info is shown on the order. It shouldn't be necessary but often, one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.

·3 years agoAs long as the tracking shows delivered, you should not be held accountable. Thats the whole reason I charge shipping, so I have some sort of tracking. otherwise, you would be accountable. But with the way things are going with Ebay these days, who knows.

OP3 years agoThanks for your reply! Shipping is out of my control so fingers crossed...
If you upload the tracking into the case you will win. Cases don’t close instantly like they used to, they now take 30 days to close. When the case closes in your favor or for inactivity, your funds will be released. Hang in there.
