Why is my payout less than my order earnings?
My pay out is WAY less than what my order earnings is and it says order earnings is what I'm supposed to get after all fees and shipping. It says I made $90.75, and that's after they've taken out the transaction fee, the shipping label, and ad fee. And now that it's been delivered, I get an email saying my payout of $39.12 was sent. Why is this? How can the $133.21 (the grand total) that the customer paid turn into $39.12, when the item was shipped for $16??? Doesn't make sense at all.

·6 months agoDid the buyer not pay state sales tax, which would have been deducted from your payout and remitted to the affected state treasury?

As @lacemaker3 stated; could be you haven't been 'paid' for all yet. Go to 'payments' and you will see 2 things.
(In Blue Box) Your Total Funds $xxxxx (What is this number??)
and then scroll down "Payouts and Charges"
and in small writing it will show $xxxx which is probably that $39

OP6 months agoI gave you plenty. But if you really want the full breakdown: item sold for $100+$33.21 for shipping for total customer paid was $133.21; subtract $18.52 for transaction costs, $15.95 for shipping, and $7.99 for the ad fee brings my "order earnings" to $90.75. My payout at the end on that one order was $39.12. That's $51.63 less than what eBay says I was supposed to get paid.

·6 months agoOrder Earnings is different than Payout.
Look at the Order Details for the sale and it will explain what you should receive. If your payout is less then what is on the Order Details then you need to look at your Payment Summary and see where you recent payments went. Usually when the Order Earnings is different from the Pay Out it is because the Pay Out is based on more than one transaction. Example you had several orders with several shipping fees and all the fees came out of your next payout. It could seem like a low amount but on the next payout it may not include shipping fees so it would be more.

You sold two items that day, so it's probably because most of the fees and shipping cost for both sales were taken from this payout, as @stephenmorgan said.

OP6 months agoSo the money I earn goes into a pool and they just subtract from that pool rather than from the individual orders themselves?

·6 months agoYes, I think that's an accurate way to look at it.
The money from your other sale may be on hold for a while. It looks like you haven't sold anything for more than 5 years, based on your feedback left for buyers, so you are considered an "occasional" seller now. Most new and occasional sellers have payouts held for a while, usually until a few days after delivery, or for up to 30 days.
FYI, if the buyer lives in a state with sales tax, then eBay has to collect that as well. So the buyer's total payment includes purchase price + shipping + sales tax, and eBay calculates the fees on the total payment.

·6 months agoThis is an accurate statement. The "payout" is a cumulative amount.
Example...you had "earnings of $100.00 (available) You sold another item and paid for shipping and fees from the existing $100.00 you had in your "account"...assuming there were $20 in Fees for the 2nd sale and $10 in shipping labels, your "payout" (that day) would be $70.00 (100-30) (you still have the earnings for the 2nd sale in your account (not yet paid out) that will be your next payout (if nothing else sells BEFORE the next payout is initiated.
In other words, shipping/fees and payments to ebay are "real-time" (instantaneous)...while your available funds are processing, so there is a lag in the process of payouts. Rarely are payouts equal to "earnings" if you sell one item a day.
