When do new seller holds go away?
Hello folks,
How long does it take for holds to just up and vanish? I understand that it's system automated, I've also talked to eBay agents about this matter. I guess I'm curious about other peoples experience, please remember the hold I'm under is the one that everyone faces at the beginning of selling. Please share!
Thank ya!

This page used to give the details for when eBay would hold payments for new sellers, but the sub-bullets were removed sometime in Nov 2017, and the page now redirects to the links that were provided above.
When eBay updated their help pages, they didn't stop enforcing the policies, they just didn't explain them as well as they used to. So this is probably still a good guide for domestic sellers (based in the USA).
These holds also apply to "occasional sellers" but I think that was added after the policies were updated, so no definition is available.

·2 years agoUsed to be your hold would be lifted when you've had 25 sales, have been selling for 90 days, and had $250 in total sales.

·2 years agoIf you sell oh, half a dozen things or more a month and have consistent customer service, decent feedback and no obvious issues then I would expect ebay to lift the holds after 4-6 months. That is not policy, it's a wild guess based on experience. If you have any issues, returns, not as described cases etc, or are selling high fraud or often stolen items expect it to take longer and possibly to be asked to provide proof of purchase (from a legitimate wholesaler) of your items. If they are holding payment for 30 days and you provide good timely shipping they may start paying you on delivery.
