The way eBay handles bank information is really stupid
Sold something. Got paid to a closed bank account. Asked to change the bank account to one that is actually open. eBay refuses to let you delete bank account information. They require you to replace it with a new account. Which sucks, but fine. They want the old (closed) bank account's account details to proceed with the change to verify it's me. How in the world am I supposed to have the details for a closed bank account?
Luckily I contacted the bank in question and they still have that info on file since they hold it for a while. Supposedly I can just go to that bank in person with ID to get my closed accounts into, but this was only because the prior bank I banked with is thorough with their record keeping. In most situations, I would be locked out of the payment I just got because eBay has no other methods of verification.
I checked the support forums to see if anyone else had this problem before me. Yup. Loads of people. And no one from eBay helps them. Ever. I promise as soon as I get this issue fixed and get my money I'm permanently closing my eBay account.
