sold and sent an item the same day but EBAY keeps the money
Sold an item over a week and a half ago, sent it out the same day. EBAY has a hold on the funds and will not release it even though the package made it to the buyer long ago. I am done selling on EBAY for sure.

·2 years agoThe card that was used was probably stolen and or the customer put stop payment. When ever you ship a high priced item to a customer, or any item at that always get shipping insurance. This falls under the theft protection off the insurance.

·2 years agoMay I suggest you NOT make a hasty decision to stop selling on eBay?
New sellers will have their payouts held by eBay for up to 30 days (as I understand it, but I could be mistaken).
Assuming your buyer is satisfied with the product and does not return it, you will receive your funds from eBay. Once you have sold a few other items with no returns, eBay won't consider you a new seller, and your payouts will no longer be held by eBay.
Since you are a new seller, I wonder if you have looked into eBay's Final Value Fee (FVF) policies. The FVF consists of two parts: (1) $0.30 per order and (2) a percentage of the total amount of the sale, meaning the total amount paid by your buyer. Your one sold item seems to be in a category with a 13.25% fee percentage.
You listed the item for $215.00 and you accepted a lower offer from your buyer. Let's assume for this example that the item sold for $200.00. You offered free shipping to the "lower 48" (pretty much everything south and east of you . . . .). The only other variable is the sales tax, which is charged at the current rate in effect at your buyer's delivery address. Let's assume you sent it to Los Angeles, which has a 10% sales tax rate.
Using these assumptions, your buyer would have paid a total of $220.00:
Item cost $200.00 + postage $0.00 + sales tax, 10% of $200.00, $20.00 = $220.00.
eBay's FVF percentage for that item is 13.25% of the total paid by the buyer:
$220.00 x .1325 = $29.15. Adding the 30-cents-per-order fee, eBay will retain $29.45 in Final Value Fees.
The full calculation of eBay's processing of this sale, its sales tax, and eBay's fees would be as follows:
$ 220.00 The total amount paid by your buyer
- 20.00 The buyer's sales tax, which eBay will send to California's Treasury in Sacramento (probably).
$ 200.00 Subtotal
- 29.45 Total of eBay's Final Value Fees
$ 170.55 The amount of your final payout.
Again, this is based on assumptions of a $200.00 item price, no additional postage charges paid by your buyer, and a 10% sales tax.

·2 years agoYou do not have a sufficient record of selling to be trusted.
Holds on sales from new and infrequent sellers are commonplace on most marketplaces, and usually last 30 days or more.
The days of getting fast money selling online are gone for people who have no history with the marketplace.
Some payment services like PayPal also have holds on transfers by new sellers.
You are likely to invest a lot of effort and see more frustration if you do not choose a marketplace and shop around,
Perhaps Facebook which has minimal services and protections might be best for you.

·2 years agoNew sellers have payment holds.
Please read about being a new seller and read Payment Holds on the right side of the page in blue.
Had you read this information before you started selling you would not be "surprised"
