Sold a heavy forklift and eBay is holding the funds
Went around and around with eBay on this. Been a seller on eBay for 21 years with 100% feedback. Ebay expects me to ship the machine across the country at a cost of over $2500 and is holding the funds up to 31 days. They said they will not release the funds until then. Question is, who pays out of pocket to ship heavy equipment BEFORE getting paid? Is this a reasonable policy?

OP1 year agoI think the point was that do people send cars and heavy equipment across country and "hope" after the dust settles they get paid? Seems like an insane process to sell something. Once eBay determines that there is no dispute, they send the money? "Eventually eBay will send you the money once the buyer runs out of reasons why they cant dispute any claims any longer?" I have sold several vehicles over the years on ebay and never had to wait to get paid. I was ALWAYS paid prior to shipping. Does anyone anywhere send vehicles across country before they're paid?

·1 year agoIf the buyer paid, you were paid, you just don't have access to the funds yet.
Would I ship it across country, No, I'd sell it local for cash and not have to pay any fee's.

Highly doubtful eBay will release shipping funds since the listing only listed Freight shipping and no amount for that

·1 year agoIn summary, while you can use pending funds to cover shipping costs (including freight), the release of the total payment will depend on eBay confirming successful delivery or resolution of any disputes.

OP1 year agoYes, there is no option to get shipping from the funds as its freight shipping (machine weighs 9,000 lbs).

·1 year agoAny seller that has not sold in the last 90 days is subject to the hold. Just have to wait it out. As a business, you must have enough cash on hand to prevent cash flow problems.
eBay often allows you access to the shipping part of the payment so the merchandise can be shipped.
Also, heavy equipment is a high fraud item. The hold is needed to protect all parties.
Shipping will be deducted from your funds on hold.

·1 year agoLooks like, until your two recent sales in May, your last sale for at least a year was in February. That makes you an infrequent seller, and Ebay will hold your funds. But you can pay for shipping with those held funds, just scroll down your payment page and you will see the option to pay with pending funds. With Ebays 30 day MBG, they prefer that any refunds come out of your pocket, not theirs.
