I’m selling an item for $6500 I was offered $5727 but my payout is $4747? Why & who is taking over $700 for my item and does shipping cost fall on me for this price?

Selling on eBay is not free. eBay charges a fee for each sale, depending on the category. If you promoted the listing, you may have promoted listing fees on top of that. Both types of fees are charged on the item price + shipping you charged the buyer + sales tax the buyer paid. The percent of selling fee charged varies by the category the item was in at the time it sold.
As the seller, you charge the buyer for shipping. The buyer pays you to purchase the shipping label with the amount you charged them. You then take that money and purchase the shipping label. Ideally the amount the buyer paid you for shipping is the exact cost of the shipping label. If you over estimated how much it would cost to ship by entering a heavier weight and/or larger dimensions at the time of listing the item, then you can get pocket the extra. That's a good thing since, as I noted, you pay eBay fees on the amount the buyer paid you for shipping. If you under estimated how much it would cost to ship by entering a lower weight or shorter package dimensions than the final package had, then you must cover the difference and that money will come out of your profit from the item.
It is always a good idea to research how reselling works on whatever platform you are going to use. You could have figured out exactly how much you would make prior to accepting the offer. You then could have countered offered, if needed.

·2 weeks agoThe FVF from ebay would take up almost $800. Did you have free shipping or did the offer price include shipping? If so, then, yes, you are responsible for the shipping cost.
If the the buyer paid you for shipping then you turned around and bought the shipping label. Ebay takes 13.6% of the sale price + the shipping charge (if the buyer paid to you) + sales tax.
