Shafted

57% of my sales last month went to charges from Ebay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's both unfair to the seller and the buyer. The seller can't make a fair profit, and therefore the seller has to charge almost double what they should sell for and still get's screwed in the end. It unfair to both the seller and the buyer. I've reduced from hundreds of items to ONE because I'm tired of someone else getting rich off of my hard work and my buyers getting shafted with a price that's too high!

Is it fair that my business has to pay rent, carry business insurance, pay health insurance, cover workman's comp, pay hazmat fees, motor carrier permit fee, pay sales commissions, pay for city sales permits...then pass all those fees on to the customers? Ya, we have to price items to cover the costs of doing business, not just price to be what we think is reasonable.
What many don't even realize is eBay has all those and more business expenses, that is what the 13% selling fee is all about...we sellers pay ebay's costs and are then expected to charge the buyer to cover those costs...if you fail to do so, you'll be disappointed in the long run

·1 month agoThe shipping cost is my highest cost, higher than fees, supplies, and the cost of my items.
They increase my item prices and reduce sales and profits.
It's the shippers taking our money and making money from our work.
We're subsidizing the shippers, who abuse the USPS, who get the giant discounts, China, Amazon, Wal Mart, Fedex, UPS and others.
Maybe Amazon will open their shipping system to us.

The carriers play an important role and provide a huge value added...just try selling without using any of the carriers, you would be left with local pick up only...that would never be sustainable. And conversely the carriers need us, but they dont need all of us at a loss.
As far as the USPS goes, their losses were covered by tax payers...congress is putting a stop to that and telling the USPS to be profitable on their own merits, and that comes as a cost too, unfortunately for buyers...unless accounted for incorrectly then the seller pays the costs...and complains about shipping being too expensive

Smart move on your part. You can't make much on a $3.99 item wtih $10.00 shipping.
