Seller Fees
Why dies the item value include the taxes that the buyer paid to purchase my item? For that matter, why are there fees on the shipping charges paid as well?

·9 months agoThe charge on shipping came about because some sellers were moving the cost of items to the shipping to save on eBay fees. They would list at a penny and add the true cost of the item to the shipping. Back then the seller only had to refund the item's price not the shipping. So, they only had to refund the penny.
eBay soon changed all that.

2. eBay charges its fees on every bit of the buyer's payment to the seller. Item cost, shipping fee and state sales taxes. That's the way eBay calculates the final value fees to the buyer.
3. You've been an eBay member since April 16, 2006. I don't know exactly how long you've been selling, but this fee schedule has been in place for more than a few years, the addition of the state sales tax having been most recent several years ago. Don't recall exactly when but someone else will no doubt tell you the exact date.
