Seller asked to cancel, then refused to cancel? How does this work?
I am confused, paid for an order, after several work days (all in handling time) seller asked to cancel order (Reason: damaged or out of stock) ebay displayed status - We are working to refund you and fill let you know status in X date (date was 1 working days from this request)
Now order status is "The seller has refused to cancel this order."
So, if I am getting this correctly, seller can refuse to themselves? What am I missing here? Is this some sort of loophole?
Anyway, went ahead and created PayPal case.

OP2 years agoas a conclusion - PayPal returned the money, order is still stuck at "Est. Delivery " and shows "The seller has refused to cancel this order. "
Looks like some scam loophole that some Chinese sellers found out.

·2 years agoLesson learned is stay away from sellers located in the Counterfeit Capital of the World. Glad you got your money back. That's all that counts.

You can ask to cancel but the seller is the one that has to agree and cancel. They can ignore the cancellation request, decline the request or agree to the request. Agreeing automatically refunds. The refund, if coming won't be received instantly.
If they don't agree to cancel and refund you then it won't be cancelled. How you would have to get refunded is to return the item if the seller accepts returns, or you sell it to get your money back.
On PayPal the buyer has to return the item before you are refunded.
At this point I'm not sure what's going on.
it looks like the seller asked you to cancel and then changed their mind.
Once an item is paid for it is the seller that has to cancel and refund or if they don't then you have to wait until either you do not receive it by the delivery date before you can get a refund, or you have to wait to receive it and then return it for a refund.
You should have waited and used eBay MBG in case the seller sends you the wrong item or it arrives damaged or not as described. Then if that happens the seller is responsible for return shipping. When you go through PayPal the buyer is responsible for return shipping.
You made the seller very happy when you disputed the payment on PayPal.
Now they can make eBay happy and send you ANYTHING and eBay won't help if it's some little trinket instead of what you purchased. When you opened a claim on PayPal it knocks eBay out of the picture.

OP2 years agoI see, looks like I walked into a trap.
Although it looks like they had opportunity to send some trinket in case of ebay MBG too and only difference is just a shipping cost?
