PayPal pay in 4 no longer on ebay?
 Haven't been able to use it on eBay for over week now despite always paying on time and in full. It still shows up on other shopping sites just not on ebay

·7 months agoYeah... twice now, the option hasn't been there. I figure "Oh, I just have to click "Paypal", it'll take me to the Paypal website, then I choose 'Pay In 4'. Nope, it just BUYS THE **bleep** PRODUCT!! No option. Luckily I've gotten a refund both times. Why is pay in 4 gone? Nothing has changed, I'm approved and in good standing...

·1 year agoAs a longtime Ebayer, I’m quite concerned. Not only do I lose out when I want to purchase, but so do potential buyers of my listings. I imagine things will take longer to sell now. With fees already very high, this just discourages more commerce. So I don’t understand the business principle behind this move.

·1 year ago**bleep** is annoying trust me. What you have to do is delete paypal completely as a payment option. Then checkout use PayPal as an option and then then the option will finally show back up

·1 year agoYou probably have your PayPal account saved as a payment method, so it's automatically drawing from that account. Go to your Ebay account and go to Payments. Delete PayPal as a payment source. Then go through checkout. You should be able to choose PayPal as an option then log in and choose the Pay in 4. That's what I did and it worked.

·2 years agoHi. I wanted to use pay in 4, but it's gone. I did deleted it from my payment methods months ago the first time pay in 4 stopped working. Now it's gone again. There's an option to "split" but no idea how THAT works 🫤

When you get to your PayPal wallet where you can choose among your payment methods, be sure to scroll down all the way. Sometimes the Pay-in-4 option is hidden behind the "complete purchase" button that appears at the bottom of the page and can only be seen by scrolling.

OP2 years agoTried that didnt work seems now i have to just click paypal and go to pay in 4 thru there instead from now on.

·2 years agoIf it is not showing up at your Checkout screen, select PayPal and the next screen should show that option if you qualify. If it's not there at that point or is greyed out then you might have maxed out your usage or stopped meeting some other criteria. It works fine for me still.

OP2 years agoYep seems like now i have to hit paypal and takes me to that unless theres a lock looking thing on that button i learned hard way if i do that it charges full price to my paypal.

·2 years agoWhen I pay for my items and want to use Pay in 4 I click on Pay with PayPal in the eBay checkout, then click Pay with PayPal.
While in PayPal to complete the purchase I can select Pay in 4.

OP2 years agoI did that last week but it didnt go to that it just made me pay pay in full with paypal i dunno why...

It is rather strange and I notice it too...have to play around with what you can clink into...

OP2 years agoWell there was also what looked like a padlock on the paypal button when i pressed it and it just processed full amount instead of letting me choose what to do in Paypal any idea why that was?

·2 years agoBeen using pay in 4 for awhile. Now not available not sure if I did something to eliminate the option. But literally just used yesterday and now not working. I have two small purchases only. Any help appreciated.

If there is an entry there for PayPal, delete it.
The next time you check out of eBay and choose PayPal, you should be sent to your PayPal wallet to choose a payment method.

·2 years agoThe same thing just happened to me. One pay in 4 went through. But the next one got denied by saying "application involved suspicious activity" and has since blocked all other attempts from receiving the option at all. I checked both eBay and PayPal customer service for any blocked activity but there is none. I tried clearing browser history and using different computer. I used my alternate eBay account to test a purchase there. But the minute I enter my PayPal email that account won't offer pay in 4. It is tied to that account not ebay and not the sellers. Once the auto system declined it, I'm not sure how long before it might reset. It could be too many transactions and even though I'm paying all of them, their auto system is reading it as suspicious and blocking it even though none of the ebay or PayPal systems have visibility of why the auto system is declining the option. ( It reminds me of Facebook that will detect some flag in a message but won't show you why and reject/delete that msg where nobody can see the message or the reason causing the system to automatically flag it. )

·2 years agoCheck your messages or notifications on PayPal to see the reason the application or loan was denied. My message said "application involved suspicious activity" but nothing could be found on record to correct that false flag. What does your message say as the reason? Then call PayPal and see if they can remove the restriction. If they say it's from the Seller or from eBay that wasnt true in my case. It just means the PayPal human staff does not have access or visibility of the automatic program that denied the application, so they are guessing. The only thing they can see is the message or notification in your messages on PayPal after the transaction gets declined.

·2 years agoThat’s been happening to me too. When I click on PayPal it immediately deducts it from my bank account. I’m not given a choice to log into PayPal and select other methods to pay including 4-pay.

If you mean that when you check out of eBay and select PayPal, you are sent directly to a specific PayPal account without entering username or password and you do not want that to happen, sign in to that PayPal account outside of eBay and use the Gear icon to go to Settings and choose Security, then check the "Manage your Logins" and "Auto Login" sections and either delete those entries or select "Log out of all devices".
If you are unable to sign in to that PayPal account directly, try using a different browser (or a private or incognito browser window) to see if that gives you the option to select a PayPal account.
If you mean that when you check out of eBay and select PayPal, you are not able to choose a specific payment method in your PayPal wallet but one is automatically selected for you, in that case go to your eBay Payments page in your eBay account and delete the entry for PayPal that appears there.

OP2 years agoI guess this is the best answer i guess Ebay made this how i get to pay in 4 from now on and dont use Paypal if theres a padlock looking thing on the paypal button i guess that means it will just charge full amount from my paypal wish Ebay had given a heads up on that when i checked out last

·2 years agoI noticed that lately when checking out on eBay using PayPal, I was no longer getting the option to choose a payment method through my PayPal wallet -- a default payment method was being chosen automatically. I was able to specify a different payment source in my PayPal account for future purchases under Manage Automatic Payments for eBay, but I lost the ability to pick the payment method on-the-fly when checking out.
I was able to get the option to choose payment through my PayPal wallet at eBay checkout back by deleting the PayPal entry from my eBay Payments page.
Now when checking out on eBay and choosing PayPal, I am sent to my PayPal wallet page where I can choose a payment method -- including the split payment or pay-in-4 options.

OP2 years agoYeah i tested it out tonight apparently yeah it takes me to the wallet now and let me pick the option now dunno why eBay or PayPal didn't say anything used to be i had the pay in 4 option as a separate choice while still in ebay. Going to have to be careful my last purchase didn't take me to the Wallet it just flat out charged everything thru PayPal without letting me set to pay in 4 so dunno why its like that now

·2 years agoI went into my payment section of ebay and deleted my paypal information. Now when I have paypal selected, it says I will finish up on paypal, directs me there and I have the pay in 4 option again.

Deleting the PayPal entry from your eBay wallet does not stop you from choosing PayPal at checkout, and doing that can actually allow you to once again see your PayPal wallet when checking out if the eBay wallet entry was preventing that.

·1 year agoThank you! It worked! I had to delete Paypal as a payment method through the Ebay website. It doesn't work if you delete it using the App.

·2 years agoTysm This was helpful. I now realize I had to delete paypal from my ebay wallet. So I could sign into paypal at check out and choose pay in 4 under the PayPal website.

·1 year agoThis is still the case BUT after going through all the steps for Pay in 4 (Yes, approved so don't question that) the process does not complete. It goes to a white page with an incomplete blue rimmed circle in the uer left page corner, and on Paypal it only shows as a pending " temporary authorization to make sure your payment method will cover the payment. Your payment method will be charged when Pay in 4 completes your order." The item still shows as for sale, and the order never gets completed. Pay in 4 has always shown up immediately in my Paypal's payment plan section and now it does not--this is ONLY with eBay, not Etsy or elsewhere.

Try another browser to rule out a browser issue. Preferably the latest version of a popular browser with default settings and no add-ons installed.
Try another device to rule out a device issue, particularly if you are using an unsupported operating system.

·2 years agoThere is a "Pay Pal" credit card and also "Pay Pal" credit which is credit for purchases only on eBay...not a credit card.
When paying for an item you will need to switch which payment you prefer to use.
You have to clink on the selected payment which you want to use.
