Paypal credit is no longer available as an option for payment.I also can't select it as a preference
Title speaks for itself. I called Paypal credit and they said there are no limits on my account and I need to take this up with Ebay. Of course it's next to impossible to speak to a live person.
This is not a matter of a seller not accepting Paypal/Paypal Credit as I have had this problem many times now with every item I've tried to buy. End up paying using my bank account.

Just wanted to make sure you saw my post above about unlinking Paypal from eBay.
It will allow you to select PP Credit once you do that.

Are you selecting PayPal at checkout? Are you getting directed to your PayPal wallet to choose a payment method?
For auctions or offers if the seller requires a payment method in advance, you may have to provide a payment method such as a credit or debit card that can handle a reversible payment hold. That payment method will be remembered by eBay for the next time you need to provide a payment method for an auction or offer, and that method will be indicated on your eBay Payments page.
If when you check out of eBay and select PayPal, you are not able to choose a specific payment method in your PayPal wallet but one is automatically selected for you, in that case go to your eBay Payments page in your eBay account and delete the entry for PayPal that appears there.

The next time you check out on eBay and choose PayPal, you should be sent to your PayPal wallet page and given a chance to pick a specific payment method.
If you select PayPal as your default payment method for auctions or offers that require payment in advance instead of linking a credit or debit card directly to eBay, you may have to delete that PayPal entry again each time to select a payment method via PayPal.

·1 year ago@jt9d-7j As @kensgiftshop posted, you will be able to use it for buy it now purchases but not auctions that require a payment source prior to bidding/making an offer.
Lately some people have said they get a notice giving them an hour to pay or their payment given prior to bidding will be billed (this happened to me), in cases like that you should be able to pay with PP credit.
In addition, if you set your PP wallet to PP credit as default, it will help when you select PP as the payment method. That is unless you have other sources via PP you pay with.

OP1 year agoThe items I purchased were all "buy it now" ( no auction involved) but PP credit did not come up as an option for payment. So I used my PP account that is linked to my bank account to finish the purchase. No issues there.
I am unable to select PP Credit as a preference . The option does not even show up when I try to change my payment preferences. It always has in the past though.
I'm unable to reach Ebay customer service because I got a message saying that I am calling during non business hours. I guess it's because it's the weekend. I'll try tomorrow ( Monday)

If you unlink the PP account to eBay, it will require you to sign in each time but you will be able to choose how to pay for your purchase so you should be able to select PP credit at that time.
I had to do this recently because PP was linked and it automatically debited my bank instead of allowing me to select the payment method I wanted.
I believe I did the unlink via my PP wallet. Paypal will still show up in the eBay check out, log in and select PP credit to fund the purchase. It's an extra step but it gets the job done.

If you're doing regular BIN's, should be able to choose it when checking out.

OP1 year agoI have tried several times now ( 4 times I believe and all with different merchants) to pay for items that are "buy it now", with no auctions, but Paypal Credit does not come up as an option to pay. The merchants all accept PP. I've been told by Paypal that just because merchants say they they accept Paypal does not mean they accept Paypal credit. None of the merchants I tried to buy from said anything abut not accepting PP Credit. I don't even understand why a merchant would take Paypal but then not take Paypal Credit?
I had no issues buying the items using my Paypal account linked to my checking account

·1 year agoPayPal and eBay seperated several years ago. This is strictly a PayPal issue. There’s nothing eBay do.

·1 year agoSorry, but that's total **bleep**. I use Paypal and Paypal Credit all the time and have done so for many years as a Power Seller and a "Power Buyer" so speak.
What's been happening this year is Ebay is been promoting the use of Venmo to get buyers to sign up for 5% off deals using Venmo. But, Venmo imposes limits on accounts (both in the amount and source of payment), buyers don't get the 6 months to return items like with Paypal and Venmo's CSR are even more difficult to reach than live agents at Ebay.

mre_bidder
·1 year agoYes unless they changed their return policy which I haven't had to use recently.
When in doubt about an item, use Paypal as the payment method instead of a CC which makes you subject to Ebay's 30 day return policy. Restrictions apply to certain categories of merchandise and you can't just say you don't want it anymore or it depreciated in value.

Yes unless they changed their return policy which I haven't had to use recently.
PayPal has indeed changed its "not as described" policy to cover only thirty days, similar to eBay's policy. "Items not received" still have up to 180 days of protection through PayPal.

·1 year agoI opened an "Item not as described" in April last year a week before their then 6 month return policy was set to expire regarding a purchase of merchandise (not on Ebay) so Paypal must have changed their policy recently.

OP1 year agoI've used PP credit for as long as it's been around. Never had an issue until recently. Because you don't have an issue doesn't mean what I'm saying is total *bleep*.

OP1 year agoPaypal has no control over Ebay's payment policies. That statement came directly from Paypal. Paypal can place limits on your credit account, as when you are behind in payments but does not have the power to prevent you from using your account for payment if it's in good standing. My account has no limits on it and is in good standing.
This is the info I got after being passed to 3 different agents within Paypal. Paypal customer service, Paypal Credit and Paypal Security. They all passed the buck to Ebay.
