Payout ID verification loops + "past due balance" hold, but I've never been charged. Chat is broken too.
Summary: winsu-67 is experiencing issues with their eBay account, where they are unable to increase their selling limits due to a supposed past due balance, despite having never sold anything. They also face problems with the payout verification and cannot reach customer support through usual channels. ryry-jj suggested the issue might be linked to unpaid balances on another associated account, but winsu-67 confirmed both accounts are in good standing. ryry-jj recommended contacting customer service through social media for more detailed assistance, while babyers88 speculated the lack of a sales history might be contributing to the problem.
Hoping an eBay employee or mentor sees this, because every support channel I've tried has failed.
The selling limit request says I owe money:
My monthly limit is 5,000 items / $50,000. I need to list one item above that, so I requested a limit increase. The request page says: "Unfortunately, you're not currently eligible for a selling limit increase. It looks like your account has a past due balance and has been put on hold. You'll need to pay your invoice before requesting an increase."
But there is no balance or invoice:
I have never sold anything on this account. Payments shows $0.00 total funds, "No transactions yet," and no charges or payments. Seller Dashboard says "Sell your first item to see your Seller Dashboard." There is no invoice anywhere to pay.
I added a payment method for selling costs:
The "Learn more" link on that error goes to the article about setting a payment method for seller fees, so I set a card as my preferred payment method for selling costs. The limit request still gives the same past-due message.
Payout setup loops:
When I set up payouts, I get the "Verify your identity" page asking for date of birth and SSN. After I submit, it shows a "Hold on tight" loading screen, then sends me back to the same empty form with no error message. It happens in the eBay app on my phone and in Chrome on my laptop.
I can't reach support:
The Contact us chat answers every message, including "speak to an agent," with "Sorry, we're having technical difficulties." The call-us page redirects back to the help home page, and I haven't been able to reach anyone by phone.
What I need:
What is the actual hold on my account, and what "invoice" is it referring to?
Can someone verify my identity manually or tell me why payout verification is failing?
Or can someone just get me connected to an agent?
Thanks in advance.

·6 days agojust a guess but you if are trying to list 5001 items and/or with a value of 50,000 +
on a account with no sales record OR no recent sales record, that's pretty much unlikely to happen, no matter how many hoops you jump thru

OP1 week agoHi thank you for responding. So I do have a second ebay account with a different email! I’ve sold and bought multiple times on that account, and I went to check the balance and its net $0, with no holds on purchases or payouts. So seems like both my ebay accounts have good standing in terms of buying and selling…

·1 week agoContact the CS reps on Instagram to see if they can provide details of a balance and/or invoice. Check the messeges under "eBay" on that other account to see if at any time an invoice was sent
