Payments on hold for 170 days
I wish I would have read more. Did more research regarding eBay and its practices. I’ve been selling on eBay since 2019 with no issues until this year. After sending my items out for delivery, I received an email regarding proof of purchase which I sent right over. Only to be told my proof wasn’t sufficient enough and my account would be permanently suspended. During all of this after speaking to multiple representatives I was told by one rep 30 days I was told by another an exact date of June 16th, then I was told by another rep 60, then another rep told me 60-72 days. Enough to make your head spin I know, so today I call and was told a 170 days then I would have to contact my state to get my money which I’m sure will be taxed before it reaches my account. To think all of this for items that the buyer is already using, not like I can ask them to send my items back if I could I would for certain. I just don’t understand how I can have a 85.7 percent seller rate and great feedback and still treated in this manner basically I’m not getting money for item that I sold this year in April 2023 until October of 2024. If you’re reading this please do more research before you decide to sell on eBay don’t be like me!

·2 years agoThat **bleep** is the most illegal thing I’ve ever heard and any contract terms and policies should be considered void. Time to sue.

·2 years agoYou're a new seller and the item sold for more the $1000, so they'll hold the funds for 30 days.
They want to make sure the money is there to refund in case the buyer decides to scam you and get their money back.
fab_finds4u
·2 years agoBe sure to show your attorney the user agreement you signed that says you agree to all their policies and not to sue.

·2 years agoYour account is not likely to be have suspended due to feedback.
The request for proof of purchase usually comes when Ebay has reason to question the authenticity for your item.
You probably submitted a retail receipt which was rejected because it was not found to be proof of authenticity.
In order to avoid being found as complicit in the sale of inauthentic (counterfeit) product and made a party to a lawsuit against you Ebay has taken down your account, held your payments and will turn over your money eventually to the unclaimed property office of your state. You will have to follow your state's claim procedures to get paid.
Your feedback is meaningless in a situation like this.
You do not get a straight answer from Ebay support because they have limited information on the situation and that is so that Ebay cannot be accused of defaming you.

·2 years agoI was also notified that my funds would be withheld for 170 days, even though I believe I did nothing wrong. Has anyone successfully received their full funds after 170 days?

·2 years agoHad the same thing happen to me, had an issue with some returns but processed everything quickly and professionally and was left with no answers and a permanently restricted sellers account with $3,500 on hold for 170 days… I will never sell or buy on eBay ever again… by choice and even if they let me! Contacted them over the phone, app chat, Facebook messenger and continued receiving the same answer. The 170 days is to avoid credit card charge backs but I contacted the buyer and they used their debit card so once the 30 days for return policy is over there should be no reason to withhold what is legally owed to me? Looks like I’m waiting for five months unless arbitration would be a viable option as my wife is a lawyer so we’re talking it over now. Seller beware, make one mistake on eBay and you’ll never sell again hahaha

·2 years agoThis not right eBay it’s a scam and **bleep** they took there processing fees the first day my customer got his item and he was happy. Now my money on hold. For a 170 days for no reason I talked to my lawyer
he said in state of California it’s illegal for eBay to hold fund more than 30 days no matter what. Plus I’m in the army I need my money for a Sergury. Now I m gonna file a big law sue against eBay how about if I die in that 6 month all my money will be gone. I’m asking people not to use eBay anymore. Go to Amazon it’s way better. And they don’t charge that much.

·2 years agoI'm now in the same position after my sister was rushed to hospital with blood clots on her lungs and myself contracting pneumonia, my usual speedy dispatch was affected. A restriction was applied I completed all actions as soon as I was discharged despite still being unwell as I was worried about this happened. I was told my funds would be released in 48 hours by support, low and behold this didnt happen. 2 months later still held yet allowed further sales on my listings until I reached out again early November. Then today I was told my account is further restricted awaiting ID verification (I've used ebay for over 10 years) and I have to provide purchase proof for every item I've ever listes in which time my funds are held for 170 days. Almost £300 in products received by buyers back in September and October.
They've no clue the impact on mental health at time where its a struggle just to get by

·2 years agoSorry for your troubles, but you have had some very unhappy buyers. And it looks like you canceled a transaction too which is the kiss of death for any Ebay seller.Sadly, Ebay doesnt care about your 'mental health', every seller with listings should have a back up plan in case of emergency.Thats just good business.

·2 years agoYes sadly that's why I am exiting eBay. I was on here for 2 months and I made three sales but you know what yeah they will say anything to pretty much get you off the phone with them. I've been told to call by Monday if I haven't had the available payout at the end of the week I haven't told 30 days I have been told 170 days I have been told 6 months. I've been told just about everything The fact is they just don't care they really don't and they are just people getting paid to talk to you on the phone they have a so-called back office but honestly it's just them again you know in their cubicles not really looking into the issue You can try to Karen it up all you want to and kicking fuss but the fact is you really do have to just sit there and wait and yeah I'm planning on waiting I don't know I mean by the way they're talking maybe three more months or something and then I'm withdrawing my money and I am just closing my eBay account and I am never doing business with eBay again as a seller because it is just a headspin and the money they take from your sales is just extreme so I mean if I wanted to wait 180 to 9 months to get my payment I would have put my items on consignment and probably got a lot more money eBay has gotten very bad and I don't plan to be a part of it after my payout becomes available

·3 years agoI am reading everyone's complaints about eBay My seller account was suspended permanently for no reason the item did not sell however they took selling fees out of my personal account and now I have to wait 170 days to get them back this is a criminal act that eBay is doing I am working on getting a lawyer

·3 years agoEXACT THING JUST HAPPENED TO ME!! Except I still had a 100% rating. Ebay sure as heck took their money. I asked them why the information I sent to them wasn't sufficient. My drivers license, front and back, Power bill with my name and address on it and receipts. Now I have to wait 170 days to get paid out? $2,100 is quite a bit to hold on to.
I have been buying and selling since 2014... Not more, I won't even buy from ebay now. (My selling privileges have forever been revoked, however I'm more than welcome to keep buying.) Not Cool.

·3 years agoMan the something happened to me over 3,000 dollars and every thing is legit but can't you see a pattern here what they are doing is taking are money and making money off it its a scam they are doing know

·2 years agoJust got the email today about the same thing, the funny thing is I have on hold 2,150$ on hold for 170 days, this is not cool at all. And it seems I've done something wrong which i haven't but it's just so bad about this.

·3 years agoHow do you know that the funds were sent to the your state? Anyway, have you tried contacting Ebay via Facebook? You go to Facebook, find the ebay page and then click MESSAGE (MESSENGER) and then briefly explain your problem. Give them your ebay ID, your name and your email address and hopefully, someone can help you get your money.

·3 years agoYou are not selling enough items each month in which you receive feedback...so that bought it down to 85.7 which is rather low which maybe made the payment thing on hold. You would be fine but that one feedback hurt you for a year.
ki-8304
OP3 years ago85.7 is over the course of 5 years I’ve been on the eBay site.

·3 years agoThe feedback percentage displayed takes only the last 12 months into account.

OP3 years agoThank you for that information! I’m still not understanding how they are able to keep your money.
klhmdg
·3 years agoYour account was suspended most likely because of the 85.7%
That 1 negative and a request for tracking is a big red flag for eBay.
I agree that eBay should never allow anyone to sell who has not been verified and have an account set up to pay fees and receive payouts... BUT eBay doesnt see it that way and many "sellers" who dont do any research find themselves in your place.
The reason for the 170 days is that eBay doesnt want to have to refund your buyers in case of a CC charge back.
Most CC allow 6 months for the buyer to decide there was an issue with the item.
femmefan1946
·3 years ago@klhmdg
EBay does not use Feedback to assess member accounts.
So the 85.7% rating is irrelevant. And the OP's account shows a 100% FB rating in any case.
However, feedback often means other problems.
I'm not sure what the 85.7% rating even refers to.
The OP has been making the rookie mistake of wanting to TALK to someone.
The phone reps have a terrible reputation for getting you off the phone as soon as possible even if that means giving you the advice you want to hear instead of the advice you need to have.

The social media Chat accounts are covered by trained eBay employees with some authority.
And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.
EBay has been cracking down on resellers of 'new' goods although most of the complaints I have seen are from overseas sellers.
klhmdg
·3 years ago@femmefan1946 Not sure why you are responding to a 2 month old post but -
eBay may not use FB to "rate" an account BUT FB of 85.7% (2 months ago) shows issues and Im sure there were issues we cannot see.
Have a great day!
ki-8304
OP3 years ago My kind sir/ma’am I didn’t have any other issue on eBay. My money was sent to me after eBay listened to all of the recorded phone calls I had with them. Not every situation is going to be the same a very unique lesson learned, just do your research before selling on their platform.
ya_795506
·3 years agoWhen you have no return then they only have the day its delivered or day after to make sure it good that is no return so how can ebay do 170 there is no c c
