Payments on hold- ebay doesn't accept my ID
I've been a member since 2005. Sold hundreds of items and bought many more hundreds without any issues. Suddenly I need to hand over all sorts of very personal data to eBay to do anything. I caved and gave them my drivers license and passport card. Both keep getting denied and they are not telling me why, being very cryptic and zero help. What are my options?

·5 months agoQuestion; have you update your drivers license to the "new" real ID? Wonder if that could be holding things up if it hasn't been updated?

·5 months agoI had similar issue with signing up with different organizations using ID.Me or Login.gov
Driver license did not work. Passport Card did not work. I use camera and two different scanners but none of the images were acceptable. I scanned my Passport and it worked.
Is there an option offered for someone to call you?

OP5 months agoSpoke to them on the phone a few times. They are as useful as asking my dog for help with this. Just keep repeating themselves to send it in again.

·5 months agoThe orientation of your drivers license may make the security information on your license disappear when you can it.
You may need to rotate the license 90 degrees to make the security information appear in the scan.

·5 months agoDon't know how picky Ebay is when it come to submitting your license?
I had to submit my license to another site and it kept getting rejected.
Found out it was rejected because it wasn't perfectly centered, even though all the information was there.

·5 months agoThere are possible 2 reasons for denials.
1.) ID's are NOT clear. Try rescanning and bumping up the size. Then print and look at it before scanning and sending.
2.) ID must match Bank to a 'T'. If Dave B. Brown is on your Bank Statement/account and Dave Brian Brown is on your Driver License (or Passport) then they do NOT match. You need to change your bank account to match your ID.

OP5 months agoI just sent a basic scan the first time. They didn't like it. Redid it with an HD scanner I use for work. Everything was super clear. Still didn't like it. Asked if I can send an old Passport card and was told yes. They still didn't like it.

OP5 months agoPassport card was just a front only scan. Didn't ask for back like the drivers license did.

·5 months agoData on drivers license and / or passport must match bank (routing number) where payments go.
Are names and addresses the same on those IDs (and not expired) as information on banking?

·5 months agoNew or returning sellers can have up to 30 day holds on payouts and maybe longer if higher value items. You have sold one item in the past 90 days so those holds come into play and will continue unless you start actually listing and selling again and prove yourself.
Current laws having nothing to do with eBay, you need to provide your driver's license and SSI/tax ID number to sell on eBay. Those are Federal requirements.
Do you have your Managed Pay account setup and approved to receive payments?
How long you have been on eBay or how much you have bought has NOTHING to do with the selling requirements you are starting fresh.

OP5 months agoIts saying on hold because I need to send them an ID. Everything was accepted with the payment info I have. I'm not going to sell more if I never get my money..

To address this point... if you can't sort it out now, the funds will eventually be sent to your state's Unclaimed Property Dept. So at least you'll finally get your money... Hang in there.
