Payments on hold by eBay for ONE MONTH after customer paid! before payout!
This action by eBay is in my pov a hilarious act towards the seller. It seems like this is just a fake cover up of gaining revenue from Sellers by monthly interest income on their hard earned capital! Not a serious act of any kind of protection for the buyer at all. I am utterly dissappointed of eBay acting this way, Don't send me a 500 word letter of sweet talk telling me how much You care as I don't believe a word of it. This seems like a similar action an authoritarian state would take to increase their income.
In addition to that the seller is obligated to pay for shipping costs for the sold items, money that is not being returned until 4 weeks later. So as a seller unfortunately will be forced to raise prices which will hurt the customer as well as the business. Typically what happens in any socialist community, believe me I grew up in one. NO eBay, shame on you. Reverse and do right.

·9 months agoI’ve received a letter from PCSDirect, a collection agency, say I owe $250 that was on hold. I’ve listed an item for sell but haven’t sold anything. Can’t reach anyone for explanation. Any help out there.

·9 months agoSince your problem is different then the OP, you should start a new post.
It shows you sold 1 item.

·9 months agoWhen I look up your FB profile on eBay, looks like you sold one item.
You might want to explore that further.

·9 months agoLooks like, until your recent sales you havent sold anything for six months, so Ebay is treating you as a new seller. Which they should, with no proven recent track record.

·9 months agodo you have to write same thing on every thread about the subject ?

Since I am responding to the same question of why funds are being held...yes, I do. Sorry if that annoys you so much, maybe skip my response to this question?

The new poster of a thread very well may not have read that information as it was posted in threads that they did not read. We board folks that come here often see things as repetitive, but there is nothing wrong with repeating "facts" in different threads where the new thread starter will get to read them.
To be noted. This thread start by the OP was the 1st ever post that they made. They have been a community member since 2017, but may not have read that info in their past visits.

OP8 months agoMy sales have been pretty frequent and I definetely sold a lot the last 6 months so no I don't agree with you.
I am also en ebayer since 15 years back with utterly few complaints whatsoever.

·9 months agoAll new and infrequent sellers are subject to payment holds, and large sales or one outside of your normal selling patterns will trigger holds as well.
This page has details of the types of holds that may apply, and a link to check on the status of your current payment holds: https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold/payments-hold?id=4816#section3

·8 months agoNothing I stated requires agreement. I simply provided the policy and some of the reasons your payments may be held. Regardless of the reason, you are not going to be able to change it.

·9 months agoCan you explain this statement: "In addition to that the seller is obligated to pay for shipping costs for the sold items . . ." ?
Aren't your buyers the ones who pay for shipping?

·9 months agoSellers have to pay from their own pocket when their funds are on hold, what is too hard to understand ?
soh.maryl
·9 months agoAt the time of your post, you had two recent sales and the remainder of your sales were older, last one being in 2022. With that scenario, eBay held your funds. They do that if a seller's most recent previous sale is over 90 days ago, or if a seller whose routine sales have been lower cost items and then suddenly lists something in a higher range.

·9 months agoI've had my funds held a few times and never had to pay out out of pocket for shipping.

OP8 months agoYes, this is how: We sell an item today, we ship it within two days after payment. Payment is held (for both the price of the item and the shipping cost) for a month. This means we have to pay the shipping cost prior to receiveing the payment, out of our own pocket.

·9 months agoFrom my understanding sellers who have payments held for 30 days are either new or infrequent sellers. Those types of sellers have more "issues" with returns and refunds. Ebay holds funds on those sellers in order to protect themselves from their 30 day MBG.
Plus I believe those terms are pointed out in their rules. If a seller doesn't agree with them, then they don't need to sell on ebay's platform.
Makes sense to me.
