Payments On Hold
Hello so im coming here because now after selling a 2,000$ item. My funds are on hold for 3 days after my items are delivered OR 30 days if not delivered with tracking. I ship items with no tracking have been for 2 years. people who sell the exact same way as i do dont have holds on there funds. I know 5 people personally and they still receive their funds freely. I feel singled out and need help. I have 500$ on hold.

·11 months agoIf I was responsible for the trust and safety algorithms used by Ebay, I would immediately flag any graphics card which can be used for mining bitcoin for a hold.
This is a category where fraud by both buyers and sellers increases the risk of a bad transaction to a level that requires greater control of the funds.

OP11 months agoI used buyers shipping address

OP11 months agoSo people seem confused, i shipped the 2,000$ item with tracking firstly, buyer had no complaints. Before this buyer i had sold to another buyer and there was issue and i had to cancel and refund the guy which i did. 2nd time i sold it the buyer seemed fishy so i canceled it again. The third time was the charm i got paid for the item. The funds released immediately after and it delivered no issues or complaints from the buyer. Then all of a sudden i started seeing on my usual selling items that i ship with No Tracking. "Funds on hold up to 3 days after delivery" i contacted ebay a bunch of times about it. They just recommend i add tracking. Respectfully im not adding tracking to a 3.50$ item that i can ship without for 1.66. My issue is still unresolved

·11 months agoJust curious: Before you finally sold this item, you cancelled two previous sales for the same thing? What did you use for your reason?
vividgamevault
OP11 months agoBuyer shipping address. I even called ebay and talked to an agent even themselves said it looked shady for both thats the reasoning for the cancellations
soh.maryl
·11 months ago"looked shady" is not really a viable reason to cancel an eBay transaction.
So, again, just curious: What DID you actually use as a reason for cancelling those two sales?
soh.maryl
·11 months agoSo you used "problem with buyer's address" when it wasn't really?
vividgamevault
OP11 months agoWell the ebay agent i had, told me to do it that way. He looked up the address and said it looked fishy. So told me to cancel due to the buyers address

I understand your desire to ship without tracking. The issue being unresolved is simply eBay's policy on what triggers funds in whatever amount to be placed on hold. Tracking will help expedite that as eBay has advised you.
For the Cancellation process eBay provides three choices. When you made the 2 cancellations which reasons did you select?
-Out of Stock
-Buyer requested the cancellation
-Problem with the Buyer's address

OP11 months agoOn both im pretty sure i clicked problem with buyers address. Im suprised on why the funds from the pricey item were released on my daily payout. Then all of a sudden all the rest of my funds so far have been held which is up to 550 after that 2k released. Hopefully im explaining good enough. Typing speedy since im at work.
i really like shipping with no tracking so hopefully maybe after the 30days since that pricey item was delivered itll go back to normal ðŸ™ðŸ»

·11 months agoHi @vividgamevault
I have to admit I am curious about this post of yours. You have sold 684 items in the last 90 days, obviously your funds have not been placed on hold until recently which brings us to this .... on August 13th you sold the following item listed as $ 2,295.00 on an offer: MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM LIQUID X 24GB GDDR6X Graphics Card
You sold the same item again on August 15th, two days later for what appears to be at list price.
So, did you get paid for the one on the 13th from eBay but not the one on the 15th?
Or did you have two of those items and eBay is holding $ 5,000.00 not $ 500.00 in your last sentence? (I think you made a type-o).
Either way, the trigger for holds is sales over $ 1,000.00. They can and will be hold for 30 days AND since they were large spikes in dollars from the other stuff you sell eBay is being safe in the event returns occur on those transactions.
It really doesn't matter how many people you know who do not have their funds held, their accounts are not like yours. Yours is unique to what you sell and your sales history.

·11 months agothere is no set amount that triggers a hold it could be .20 cents or $20,000.00 it is whatever the algorithm decides on.
mr_lincoln
·11 months agoYou could be right, my money is on what the policy states with regard to payment holds and what might trigger them.

OP11 months agoOkay that makes sense, there was complications with the first 2 sales where i had to refund the buyers, i thought they were scammers. The third guy seemed to workout and no complaints it was delivered to buyers address a week ago. I only got paid for the one graphics card not on all 3. Those funds have released right away. But alll my funds after that were in hold 3 days until after delivery or 30 days without tracking.
I DID USE TRACKING ON THIS PRICEY ITEM 😂😂😂 Everyone reading please dont come to my ebay and purchase big quantities and think they wont be tracked. I block buyers 🙂

·11 months agoto save time i change the pics and other pertanate info and relist. the last two items i sold were both under 1000 dollars and have been delivered still no funds.

·11 months agoIn the last 90 days you sold 600 or so items UNDER $20.00....
You sell 1 item for 2K....(can't believe you sell a 2K graphics card without tracking)
uh, yup, that is going to be held.....
From the terms & conditions:
We may place a transaction hold on funds depending on your seller status, changes to your account status, or other factors we use to help ensure a safe marketplace in all categories, regardless of whether the transaction is covered by our eBay Money Back Guarantee or not.

·11 months agoAll new and infrequent sellers are subject to payment holds, and large sales or one outside of your normal selling patterns will trigger holds as well.
This page has details of the types of holds that may apply, and a link to check on the status of your current payment holds: https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold/payments-hold?id=4816#section3

·11 months agoI don't see a $2000 item on this account.
They'll probably hold the funds for 30 days, even if you had tracking.
Did you really ship a $2000 item without tracking?

OP11 months agoI shipped with tracking and insurance they already received the item and i received the money right away no questions asked but after all my other items that i sold were on hold after the fact
fab_finds4u
·11 months agoTacking is your only defense for an item not received claim. Signature delivery if the item cost over $750. You better hope and pray your buyer is honest. I recommend you start using tracking. All you can do now is wait and see.

OP11 months agoBuyer already received it and i used tracking and added insurance!!

·11 months agoWait, wait, you shipped a 2K item with no tracking so the buyer can claim he never received it?
soh.maryl
·11 months agoAre you as stunned as I am?
And cannot see the OP's current listings nor his feedback.
To the OP:
Do you realize that you are advertising here to all of us that we can purchase your pricey items, claim INR and be refunded and essentially keep that item? Do you think I am the only person that thought of that? Or are you joking? I hope so.
powell-collectibles
·11 months agoWell, I hope that he uses tracking on the expensive items that he ships. Most of what he sells are low dollar items where the only way it makes sense would be to not use track service. No issue there – plenty of settlers make plenty of money this way. On the items that are thousands of dollars or hundreds of dollars or even $100, I hope and assume that he is using tracking.
vividgamevault
OP11 months agoExactly right!
soh.maryl
·11 months agoYes, I'd hope and assume that also. You have to admit the "I ship items with no tracking" was more than a little unsettling before he finally sorted it out.

That would have tracking

·11 months agoGuess I was going by the fact that the OP stated "I ship items without tracking" and did not mention that, however, this particular item, contrary to his usual practice, DID actually have tracking.

·11 months agodepends on your selling pattern, when you have had no sales for a period of time then suddenly have sales then you are treated like a new seller again and funds are held. Best suggestion is to sell at least a few items a week to keep the selling pattern going normal.
It can also depend on the value of the item, if you normally sell low end cheap things and randomly get a larger sale that can trigger a hold also.
doesn't matter if you have been a seller since day one or just started last week.
the algorithm gets people regardless.
